Croydon started the game very quickly with height and plenty of pace up front, which was coped exceptionally well by the Margate full backs - Chaz Albrecht, Saul Anderton and Andy Johnson.

With 20 minutes left of the first half Croydon tiring lifted the gate, who came closest to taking the lead with a 20 yard shot from Chris (German) Lewis clipping the top of the bar.

 

Half time score 0 - 0.

 

Second half again Croydon pressing and on the attack led to the ball going out under the noses of the Margate bench. The linesman gave a Margate throw, overalled by the ref, who awarded a Croydon free kick???

The ball entered the gates box to be toe poked into the gate net

1-0 Croydon.

Margate now pressing for the equaliser pushed men forward, but the long ball down the middle played into the hands of the Croydon defence, who were all 6ft plus and confortable with these tactics and swept up easily.

Croydon then had a couple of chances one headed over the bar and eventually scored a second.

2-0 Croydon.

Good performances from everyone,the lads in all fairness stuck to the task, but were just beaten by a better team on the night.

 

A very well deserved win for Croydon and we wish then luck in the coming rounds.

 

 

Only the league to play for, now where have i heard that saying before this year??

Away to Folkestone Invicta on Sunday - if we play like this another 3 points in the bag.

Thanks for the report. First hand sory tells the same. MUST now be allowed to play each week to get the side back to the form of 2006. Lets hope the team can rally after 2 defeats and see off Folkestone in style. Heres hoping for a good pitch.
