Substitute 'Margate' and I can tell you one outcome: the 'rules are rules' mob on this forum would be singing a different tune.

Of course I would have been riled at a points deduction, and of course I would have complained about it. But the fact remains that RULES ARE RULES - they don't exist just for a laugh! Any team should face the same deduction. Hence, AFCW should have received the same point deduction as Altrincham did last season.

He didnt actually. He put in the shot that was deflected in to the goal. Anyway thats not what this thread is all about is it.
I Felt some sympathy for AFC originally, when after having been kicked out of the Cup & having to repay the winnings then to be ousted from their local cup then having 18 points deducted I felt they were hard done by, regardless of what the actual rules are. Having said all that, they were negligent & found guilty. I would have thought any appeal,if successful would have had that total halved at most.Whilst I can be seen as selfish here I am not but am quite annoyed that the FA have decided to overule the Ryman leagues decision so heavily.
I have two minds about this really but whats been done & decided has been done therefore we must now concentrate on taking advantage(yes take advantage as they could have got ALL points back)& get to the play-offs by what we do on the pitch. It really would be better to do it that way I feel.
We were going to have to up our form anyway to get there even before this decision & nothing should make a difference because of todays result for AFC Wimbledon.

Now you need to get above us in the table on the pitch (although with the help of 3 points). If you do that, you'll really feel you've earned your playoff place.

Happy to provide a sick bucket but having been kicked around by the FA and League 5 years ago, we do want to help other clubs. We've assisted in the setting up of a number of trusts and I'm sure we'll be willing to give advice to clubs appealing similar situations in the future. Guess you need a trough rather than a bucket by now.

What help did you provide Altrincham?

Some of us signed their petition (not me I admit). At the time we had no relevant experience so they didn't come to us. In a similar situation now I imagine we would be approached in the same way as we talked to Altrincham who were, by the way, supportive. I hope we would be supportive in a similar manner and provide what advice we could.

I am of the old school that would go by what is in the rule-book.

All clubs play to the rule book agreed on at the start of the season. The travesty isn't so much that only 3 points have been deducted but you can now change the rules, undemocratically, as you go.

I undertstand all the Clubs vote on rule changes before the start of each season - well here's one that they haven't voted on, it appears!

The sooner we get out of the make-it-up-as-you-go-along League the better!

Abdullah the disappointed!

Is it not the FA who have over-ruled the Ryman on this though, so if that is the case, i have sympathy for Turvey of the Ryman League who maybe has had his 'legs cut off' by the FA.

It does suggest though that you can just ride rough-shod over any rule,so whats next ?

Maybe we should reduce the width of our pitch by 10 yards so the players don't have to run so far.
