The term "Sleeping Giant" is often misused, but I genuinely believe that should Basildon Utd get a new, more accessible ground somewhere in the town, they would really take off.

 

As has been pointed out, the town does have the fan base and for all my own beloved Bowers' ground development plans, we don't have the brand that Basildon has...... IMO.

I just went to watch a game,i know both managers very well ie john higley basildon utd and stansted's new manager terry spillane ex frenford senior intermediate league,i stayed at the club after to watch the england game,as bowers were away at sawbo,basildon were at home so went to watch that game,was willing to pay but then len cordell who is basildon's club secretary who was also the essex f.a's senior & intermediate secretary when i managed both county rep team's a few years ago put me down as a guest of his.

if as posted in another thread, basildon could be off to morbec farm then i don't see how this would help with building a fan base, its a poxy place to get too.
