todays game

Heybridge only had one shot and we were the better side i thought, but only just. We were poor in the second-half though, but they never troubled us. It didn't help that they were kicking every player and that the ref did not send off their number 15 and that Hocktons first-half goal, which was onside did not stand. Had that goal stood we would have won about 3-0 i reckon.

It does seem that we are a totally different side confidence wise when we get that early goal (and if DH in particular gets an early goal, his own game is so much better)but surely a good side should be more than capable of clawing themselves back into a game-i know we did Tuesday, but maybe on Tuesday the opposition was poorer and not so well organised .

All the stuff about being and staying positive is great and i wholeheartedly agree, but i want to see people who can deliver that PMA.

The rhetoric is fine, but its the delivery that counts, and that is not happening.

If the Manager says-'we are going to smash em',i expect them to be smashed.

If you say-'you can't afford to lose another game'-by hell and highwater, you make sure that there is no way that you lose the next game like we did yesterday. You win at any cost.

If you say you will make £5m profit, you deliver £5m profit or you are cheating your shareholders who have invested in you

If you tell your wife you will make her happy tonight-you make her happy tonight

Its about time the pma was delivered, and thats why i remain angry - we are not getting the delivery.

Waiting for it to happen the next game is no good. You do it now .You can't repeat time. You only get one opportunity to deliver today. You deliver the positive today.

Then you move to the next positive and deliver that one

No fringe players playing full squad out that Trott normally picks still lose what excuse this time?

Note comments that if we scored first would have gone on to win

Problem is did not score first and not sure if did would have won!

Not sure the spirit or belief is there on yesterdays performance.

See what happens next game but please no excuses

We dominated with great passing for the first 25 minutes and created a number of chances. When we went 1-0 down I was confident that we would come back and score the way we were playing. But what happens? we stop the passing and hoof it up the pitch at every opportunity with 70% of the balls going to the opposition. Players just seem to kick it after that without even looking where they were putting it. Why didn't they just play the way they were at the start? asd for the ref he was weak and should have had produced at least one red card for that "tackle" on Jacko. But the bottom line is both sides had to put up with him. I just wish we could have shut up those arrogant supporters, some of the most rude I have seen at HP, the way they spoke to some of the staff was appalling. Teams seem to be doing there homework on us and we don't seem to have a plan B when it starts to go wrong.

AS you say Margate shot-we are very one dimensional-particularly upfront;where just playig DH in a forward position makes it very easy to defend.

Because we have quality players, we manage wins against most of the weaker and/or less organised sides, but when pitted against a team and manager who have a bit of organisational ability, it is easy for them to organise themselves against our predictable forward moves.

As RT never signed that third striker in a different mould to DH ,we are rather stuck with the current game plan.Either a pacey forward,or a bustling tall striker would have given something different, and taken the defenders away from DH.

AS it is, they just need to put two on DH,leave one defender spare, ensure the midfield pick up loose balls and not give JJ too much space.

Always easy on paper, but we are very very one dimensional, and really paying the price for offering nothing different in attack.

The sad thing is that this was identified about November ,and was absolutely obvious to everyone ;but nothing was ever done to allieve the problem. You only get away with it for so long.

I must be the only person who thought Heybridge played well. First half they rode their luck but second half they were very solid and physical at the back and really dug in. I don't think our performance was any worse than against Leyton - it's just that the opposition were much better than on Tuesday.

Michael I think your summing up above looks about spot on.Could be we need to bring out plan B on Tuesday as I am sure the Horsham manager has read your post too by now.

I would like to see our players anticipating situations a bit better, getting to the ball slightly quicker too as they always seem to be a split second slower in doing so in comparison with the opposition.

Playing the ball a little quicker,a few more one-two's rather than trying to beat a player twice before releasing & players running off the ball & into space more often too.Better ball control. But most of all ATTACK that ball!

There you go,more for the Horsham manager to take into consideration.

Now what is plan B? We'll need it now!

I would like to think that Our own Manager and indeed the Horsham manager have a little bit more about them ,than to take into account forum ramblings from sad armchair managers like me.

Some things are so blatantly obvious that both clubs really have a problem if they can't identify the strengths and weaknesses of their own and opposition sides.

The skill is of course in finding the solutions ,and thats where the managers earn their corn.Unfortunately, of late, we may have fallen a weeny bit short in that department.

I think we ought to have some "we can make the play -offs" urgency and determination on the playing field. What we are lacking most of at present is.......confidence!

I have got some spare if anyone wants to make me an offer!

Abdullah the confident!
