One of the best scrapping performance from the boys today. Ashford kept trying to come back at us but the players all kept a cool heads and despite the officials favoring the home side, we won through.

Well done to all the players and the supporters who braved the weather.

My MOTM would be Rob Swaine. What a solid and assured performance from a player who has had few starts this season. Any other candidates?

I thought both centre backs played very well. As rich says Swainey was solid and assured, won everything in the air and put in some crunching tackles. I think the difference from Tuesday was the presence of Heffs - he seems to get the back 4 playing as a unit and both blewitt and Swaine play better when he's there.

Special mention for Ronnie - after a few dodgy moments against Walton he was solid today, claimed all the high balls played in and made 1 important stop.

Not a spectacular display of football, but a fantastically hard working and battling performance, which in some ways is just as encouraging.

Should have been more than 1 up before the break, as we dominated possession, and Ashford had few chances. Plenty of attacks down the wings. Heffer scored with a solid header (his first goal for us i think?). Second half we were on the back foot a bit more, couldnt create much, but defended tremendously.

All the back 5 played very well, Ronnie did well in a tricky wind. I thought Swaine was excellent, dominated completely in the air, nothing beat him all day. Cant really be singling players out though as it was a true team performance.

Ashford was a fairly lifeless place (and bloody freezing!), there were a lot more blue shirts and hats there than orange ones.

Lets have another good turn out for what will be a very tough game at Heybridge.

I thought it was an excellent result for us yesterday. Ashford are towards the bottom but their recent form has been top drawer, so to come away with all three points was a great effort.

I felt we looked the better side, even though overall it was quite a scrappy game but I think this is another game we may not have won last season, so fair play to the lads who all worked very hard.

Heybridge on Tuesday will be a tough game but if we show the same determination we did yesterday I'm confident we can get a positive result.

Well done lads!

Very pleasing ALL round performance on Saturday. I would also go as far as saying that was one of our best team performances of the season. Yes, i believe that! I thought every player did the "simple" thing, and worked for each and every one of their team mates. Well done lads, but we need to work every bit as hard again on Tuesday.

I do think though that Joe needs to get out wider for when the tactical substitution is being made grin

Yep, it was another bitterly cold one, and i still believe WE are the only team in this league who have played every game with every player wearing short sleeve shirts! ('CEPT Ronnie/Billy)! They must be the pansies of the team then !! laugh

Keep it going lads - We are right behind you lot!
