MFC vs Heybridge Swifts - LIVE COMMENTARY

The ref did seem poor. He missed a blatant handball right in front of him and when Jacko was pole-axed down by the corner flag the player should have definately walked.

However, that is no excuse for the fact that we created very very little today and once again the spirit in the Heybridge side was ten times better than ours. Ten minutes after the final whistle their players were still singing in their changing room as if they had won the league. Thats the sort of passion we are getting out of some of our players but we need it from all of them.

Jackos boot torn in two, well nigh on anyway.Atrocious refereeing. He should get a red card for not showing a red card.Beggars belief how it was only a yellow..A possible career threatening tackle that one. Luckily it wasnt. Then there was that second bad tackle

How on earth.....sorry I am still dumbfounded at his decisions on both.

As for the game we started very well.Hit the bar then a good goal(i.m.o. disallowed). Then they scored out of the blue, did nothing else & hung on against a moderate Margate side who didnt have much noddle on how to break down an understrength Heybridge side after their goal went in.Cant remember too many efforts on goal after they had scored. We weren't good enough to win today but we were certainly not that bad to have lost. However scoring is the name of the game & we didn't do that where as they did. Warren Ryan was excellent in the central rearguard position today for them today but its another game where we should have been able to take all three points.

Agree that the referee an officials were awful today. I was watching from the side and was in-line with play when Hockton was INCORRECTLY judged offside, a terrible decision that only the linesman saw which cost us the game in my opinion. And how Heybridge finished with all eleven men I will never know, both times the player completely took Jackson out yet they each time they stayed on the pitch!

Heybridge's goal came against the run of play which stopped Gate's growing momentum, but we did have other good chances, we just weren't able to take them today. Heybridge as a team did not impress me today.

Overall, I feel we were a bit hard done by today by the officials and we did not deserve to lose at all. Lets not get too downheartened, the play-offs are still well within sight and we saw last Tuesday what the team can do. I am sure we will see that great play again before too long.
