Although failing to win at home has probably put the kibosh on any remaining chance of a play-off spot we were probably lucky to get anything.

Worst officials of the season contrived to get almost every decision wrong and although we suffered from a few Aldershot suffered just as much.

Firstly their disallowed goal, I was dead in line and although you can never be sure without a replay he didn't look offside. so one to us.

Secondly Charlies disallowed goal, wtf was that about? Charlie gets in behind the last defender who then fouls him and Charlie puts ther ball in the net as he goes down, how the ref can give them a freekick is beyond me....one to them.

Biggest [****!!****] up off the game our goal. Liam hits a fantastic shot which beats Bull all ends up but hits the bar and rebounds out, Charlie and Joel have both followed in and are clearly both onside from the original shot but the ball bounces back beyond Charlie to Joel who heads it back past Charlie and Bull, no problem if it goes in but it didn't it hit the bar again and fell to Charlie who is now clearly offside when he puts it in the net.

Numerous other wrong decisions throughout the game but we got the better of the big three wrong ones.

Chukki had a few promising moments and at last we have a forward who can win the ball in the air, cleverly we have managed to get one who is not only eight inches taller than the rest of the team but is also subtely darker than his team mates to make him easier to spot, which made it all the more surprising that in the first half we continually pumped up long high balls for big Jon Keeling to attack in the air.

Sasha had a good game, Liam ran around a lot, Ross was as reliable as ever and Charlie worked very hard but missed a few chances he would have buried earlier in the season.

Rob Quinn???

Lance was rightfully our man of the match, Nikki Bull was easily theirs, it feels like two points dropped but it could have been worse.

Just as well you reminded us it was Liam's 35 yarder, according to the BBC it was Aldershot's own Jonny Dixon.

Must have been a helluva backpass.

As for Quinny, totally innocuous yet again. Yet again the substitution of him for Moore far too late.

It's becoming a bit like a stuck record, but when WILL LD learn that substitutes need more than 5 minutes to turn and WIN a game?

I think Liam got his substitutions spot on tonight actually. He bought on Mark De Bolla just as every one was tiring, so you just had to lose your man and De Bolla would find you. He then bought Ledgister on just as it looked like a bit of pace would put Aldershot on the back foot, and Luke Moore gave us another option.

In regards to the goal, from where I was, it looked like Charlie was behind Joel when he headed it and the rule is, if you are behind the ball then you aren't offside.

MOM definitley Lance, he's beginning to show the form that got him in the England squad again. I felt Chukki had a good game and so did Liam Coleman, who looks like a player who can take a good corner! (By good I mean getting it near the penalty spot, not the front post).

We could and perhaps should've won it in the end, especially with the fact their goal was from our mistake, so it leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth that we didn't win.

Well I returned to Gravesend again last night to cheer on the Fleet. Though we came on of the traps firing and had 3 good chances in first few minutes, then bang, Long short free-kick went wrong and we ended up 1-0 down after six minutes. Thought the rest of the first half was then a battle, but we got on top at times and then the chances came at both ends. Lance saved us and their goalie saved them!!! Eventually the goal came, although it seemed a bit surreal the way that it happened. I thought the officials were very poor, but then it was the same for both teams. In the end I suppose a draw was fair, and I think it leave us struggling to make the play-offs.

Still a draw was probably the fairest result!
Oh sorry, making a judgement call without being there! blush

Aaargh!

A correct judgement call, as it happens - but essentially the commentators' judgement call, of course, rather than your own. wink

An exhilarating second half - after all our missed opportunities, of which there have been far too many in recent matches, I suppose it was inevitable that when the goal came it would be something like a finish virtually on the line following two rebounds off the bar.

Lance played a blinder and made some brilliant saves. We had three gilt edged chances in the first few minutes yet went behind to a goal created by possibly the worst freekick ever taken by someone playing in a Fleet shirt! Then when we won our first corners of the game in the second half they were so poor the ball was either delivered straight to their 'keeper or was kicked so low it didn't even get any further than the first defender. Superb is right. Aim for the penalty spot! These set pieces must be sorted out as a matter of urgency. There were some heart stopping moments in what was a very exciting second half. The game was played at a blistering pace and I think that was one of the main problems why it was so difficult to score. To execute moves consistantly at such speed requires great precision and the opponents to make mistakes too. Aldershot defended well all night and the ball just never seemed to run where it was required to. The goal at the third attempt was a great relief, but even so Aldershot then missed perhaps the best chance of the evening which could have meant we wouldn't even get a draw. The fact that we did has kept us in the race. Other results today went generally well for us, but we must do all we can to get back to winning ways at Tamworth on Tuesday. If we can it will give us confidence to improve for the difficult away trip to York next Saturday.

No contact was made. However, Eribenne could have been booked for dangerous play for his studs-up lunge.

Eh? Surely that's irrelevant. What matters is whether MacDonald was ahead of Ledgister when he had his shot.
