Step 5 Working Group meeting

Recommended Posts

It may be of interest to readers that I will be attending the next meeting of all Step 5 leagues at F A Soho Square on 11th April when I am sure a few of your questions will be answered as to who will get the nod or not from our leagues. It may also interest you that I have submitted a question to the FA which is truly meant on a hypothetical basis as we encourage all our promotion contenders to do all work possible to go up so no disrespect meant to them but the question is :- If no one is promoted from a Step 5 league but a Step 4 relegation contender is geographically suited to that league only then what will happen to that Step 4 club ?

Thank you for your update LC.

The Ilford comment was based on the fact that they were sure that no team would get the appropriate ground grading and league finish in the ESL to qualify for promotion to Ryman 1 North.

However, taking into account the latest info about Br ntwood and their ground work together with their maintaining top spot and the Boro's failure to pick up more points than they have over the last few weeks it seems that the Ilford relegation position is getting more and more precarious.

P.S. To LC.

Will this meeting resolve the structure of the Step 5 in terms of number of leagues for next season which were anticipated to be reduced from 15 down to 12.

It has been hinted in the NLP that the difficulties of sorting out the 6th Step 4 league in the north of England may mean that restructuring of Step 5 may have to be postponed until season 2008/9.

Or is the whole agenda for this meeting totally sub judice and you cannot comment at all?

I am sure that a defintive answer will come out of the 11th April meeting but my personal opinion is that the restructuring will be for 2008/2009 ...... but I am never surprised in this mad world !
