Where has the MJD & Sons Crossbar Challenge gone?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what's happened? I used to rather enjoy it. Believe it or not I even enjoyed when I got my go so I'm rather disappointed to see it no longer on the agenda for the Fleet at the Half Time interval.

When it was first announced the club said that "The Challenge will feature in every Home Nationwide Conference game thereafter. The Challenge will be subject to adverse weather conditions in order to protect the pitch.

It was a little windy today but the weather was hardly adverse. I for one would like to see it back; in fact I haven't even seen the guy that does it for a few weeks.

I was wondering the same thing too. I still see the sponsor's lorries around the Dartford crossing area so it is still in business. I thought that after a shaky start that it had developed into a reasonable competition. And by far prefereable to the Sanex challenge that was on display on the pitch at the away game at Grays in January.

Presumably someone knows the answer?

Maybe the club wants to keep the conditions of the pitch thoroughly intact, or maybe the one who runs the crossbar challenge is being highly critised by some people for all of what he does for the club.

The MJD & Sons Cross Bar Challenge will be recommencing during half time of the fixture with Aldershot on Friday night. Since the turn of the year, we have been struggling to allow the competition to take place due to adverse weather, and a respect for the safety of the players and the condition of the pitch, which we did not want to jeopardise with the second half still to be played. Some might say we have been over cautious, and that it could have gone ahead on Saturday (mistake on my part also there!), but we felt that we should again postpone.

As I say, the competition will recommence this friday, so look out for the golden tickets. The prize money has continued to roll over, so you could be kicking for a jackpot of £320.

Cheers,

And the children in the centre circle at HT?
Surely same restraints.
