Slough Town vs Walton & H - Match Updates

fair play to the lads, they kept going, but the gap between our level of talent and everyone else keeps getting bigger, but although the effort is now there, we have very little skill in the team, simple mistakes keep costing us.

if we had taken one or both of those chances through miller and davies it could have been a different result though.

at least we can take some comfort that, bar a miracle, walton will be going down with us.

Freedom Pigott????? Why didn't I notice that at the game? Was he christened on the basis of the porn star name game?

An absent rebel replied to my final score update with the words "[****!!****]. Sounds as bad as it gets." I replied "You'd think but we do have to travel to Essex on Saturday..."

That was hugely disappointing particularly after Saturday's efforts against Tonbridge. We just struggle for a consistent level of performance and I suppose that is no real surprise with so many young lads in the team.

Wilko went off after twisting his knee standing on the ball and hope that was not too serious.

Impressed by him and Haley coaching in the second half from the touchline probably the high point of the match.

The two chances on 71 and 72 minutes were crucial if one of those had gone in we would have been right back in the game and in with a chance of upsetting Walton and putting them under pressure but as it was our heads went down and the goals flew in.

I think after Saturady after so much effort was put into the match..and we got nothing..did not help the players..we felt sorry for ourselves..heads up all round..our fate is sealed , lets keep our heads up and enjoy the company and the banter (which has really made our supporters the real best!)

cheers chris sliski

I didn't make the match due to work commitments, but I was staggered with the result. After Saturday's efforts against a top half team, two keeper errors and a dodgy penalty costing us the match, I thought we would start to do well against the lowe teams particularly Walton whose record was no better than us.

What went wrong, has confidence finaaly been shattered. ?

Who knows... all I know is that, despite knowing that we've been in trouble all season and nailed on for relegation, I've never been more disappointed coming away from a Slough match (Yeading in the FA Cup aside) in all my time supporting the mighty Rebs.

This was supposed to be a tight game between two poor teams, maybe settled by the odd goal - but we were outplayed by a Walton side who seemed to want it more, were legitimately five goals better than us, and importantly, actually had players who could play football. For me, it's one thing losing 0-5 at home to East Thurrock, who actually have a chance of staying up, but quite another to lose in the same manner to a side who in all probability, will be coming down too. So in the battle to see who is the 'least worst' team in the league, Walton came out comfortably on top. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but if Hendon can put a competitive side out for (reportedly) £800 or £900 a week all in, why can't we?

We can't even blame the pitch. It looked better last night, and Walton used it very well.

Having said all of the above, I'll still be there cheering on the team for the remainder of the games I can make - hopefully in crowds larger than the dismal 183 of last night.

Sitting behind in the bar after the game, you only had to look at Wilko to see how gutted he was. I think a few of the players perhaps believed it would be a walk in the park after Saturday's game and didn't go out there giving it their all, and we paid the consequences.

I only hope now we can at least try to start planning for next season and start to get things in place. This season is all but done.

i have to agree there gary, the chances of us making up the 5 point gap between us and walton are slim to none now. we need to look on to next season and start trying to convince the team we have to stick around to avoid another summer of uncertainty.

we also need to raise the serious issue of trust ownership of the club IMO.
