I think its a interesting dilema luke and lance are both very good keepers but in my opinion we couldn't afford both plus young Sam Mott as also done well when he has played, i take it Lance's contract is up at the end of the season will he sign again if we stay in the conference, can we afford to wait till the end of season to find out cause i'm certain Luke will be snapped up quickly. If all goes well hopefully it will be Lance & Sam in goal next season but i wouldn't be dissappointed if it was Luke & Sam

Craig might be fit again next season...so just to keep everyone happy we could have Lance, Luke , Craig and Sam.

Lance has done very well this season I would be very happy to hear that he has signed for next season, I wouldn't be too upset to hear that Stacy Long, Mark Debolla, Mark Ricketts, Ross Smith, Omone Sodge, Jon Keeling, Danny Slatter, Liam Coleman and Captain Macca had put pen to paper either.

As much as I think Sam has improved ten fold, I still feel he is at least two years away from claiming a regular first team place. As demonstrated against Rushden in the Trophy, these are physical games and you can't expect McCarthy and Hawkins to act as bodyguards. We do need experienced cover for Lance.

I certainly don't agree with keeping the whole squad and if we did then there would not be any additions.

If you want to improve you have to let the weaker members of the squad go and replace them with automatic selections, inevitably this means that some of this seasons automatic selections become weaker members of the squad and are then let go.

Unfortunately some of the players that would be automatic selections next season may chose to leave of their own volition and they, of course, will be harder to replace.

Liam unearthed some cracking youngsters last summer and will no doubt have to repeat the trick this summer.

Whatever happens the squad of 2006/7 have given us a fantastic season and I for one am bloody grateful.

HEAR HEAR . Just short of a year ago , we were scrabbling at the lower end of the foodchain that is the conference , then we had the marvellous news that the Fleet would be able to field a 5 a-side team this year . And of course it was season ticket renewal time . So , eternally hopeful , I renewed . Liam pulled a harem of rabbits out of his mercurial hat ( Hogwarts would love that one ) and LO AND BEHOLD ... we improved in every single area . Following the Fleet over 30 years now has been every emotion you can think of . Every fan of every club wants success NOW ... it doesn't happen . There can only be one winner in any league - second and third places bring success to a lesser extent , relegation does not necessarily mean disaster . To me this , season represents SUCCESS , and it isn't over yet . If you asked any fan last year if they wanted a top ten , full time team , managed by an astute pair with an eye for talent and the knack of moulding eleven people into a unit , there wouldn't be the need for so many Mother's Day cards this year , because I am sure many would have been slaughtered if that was the fan's side of the bargain . I joke , of course , but this is exactly what we have got . Next year can only be better , NO MATTER WHAT THIS SEASON BRINGS .

I regret to say that I think that there have been some goals conceded recently that have been wholly, or in part, down to goalkeeping errors, and the description of the second goal Stafford scored last night does not encourage me that this problem has been successfully addressed.

It can be an unforgiving position playing in goal, especially when defenders go to sleep, but the reasons why last night's second and goals conceeded against Kiddy and Northwich were scored, need to be looked into urgently by Ron and Lance before Saturday. The last game when we did not concede a goal was away to Grays in early January.

I have to agree with you with concerns to us leaking goals. Now when I watch the match, and our defence are under pressure I start to cringe especially from set pieces. We don't seem to able to defend corners or free kicks all that well, plus the inability for our guys to clear our area, which usually results in a goal.

We certainly miss Paul Macca out there.

So you think the standard of goalkeeping is worse this year ? Or Lance could do better ? Maybe he could , and so could every player who ever put on boots , come to that . You may be able to find fault with Lance , but I think we're lucky to have him , AND Craig AND Sam .

And this year's record isn't as gloomy as you paint it - 11 clean sheets in the Conf so far , and 4 extra games to play this year thanks to a larger league . So we've already equalled last year's effort of 11 clean sheets , which in turn bettered the 04-05 record of 8 clean sheets , which also included a godawful stretch of Aug 28th v York (4-0) until Jan 1st v Crawley (0-0) BETWEEN clean sheets .

I'd say we are fortunate , especially as they all have time on their side yet - most goalies keep on till their mid-thirties , and aren't recognised for their skills until they reach their mid-twenties . Have hope !

I don't think I mentioned goalkeeping. (Defending takes account of other players on the field of play). But now you have, I would like to see Motty between the posts for a change, just to see what the lad can do and give him a chance. how long does he have to sit on the bench before given a start. I know he's come on as a sub before, but not long enough to be able to make a worthwhile assessment.

Sam played the full Trophy game against Rushden and did well enough making a particularly good save in the second half to keep us 2-1 in front.

I liked the look of McShane in his first spell with us but in his brief spell this season I was less impressed - seemed to have lost some confidence. Still a good prospect though but I can't see us signing a new keeper at this stage unless it is to cover injuries or suspensions.
