to get to Barking's ground go on the A12 to the Moby Dick pub turn left carry on to the next main crossroads turn right at the traffic lights, to the Coopers arms pub (Chadwell Heath), turn left, keep going to the top (old Robin Hood pub on right) Longbridge road straight over lights Lodge avenue ground is 300 yards on your right its a complete piss hole so if it rains the pitch will churn up and your in for a wet night the club house beers not bad though

once you turn left at the coopers arms if you just go straight you end up near upney station. What you want to do is turn left at the coopers go over the hill and straight across the lights, next set of lights go straight then turn right at the third set this will take you down to the old robin hood.

two quick points

a) the club house is closed at the moment

they knocked the robin hood down so if your using it to see where your going look out for a big hole surrunded by fenches

sorry about the misdirections but since I emigrated to the Isle of Wight I've lost touch, the nearest pub will now be the Roundhouse surely thats still there, all the good pubs and landmarks seem to have gone is the Ship&Shovel and the Volunteer still there? I was raised in Poplar then Forest gate I went there recently the whole gaff's changed. shame a

I believe the Ship & Shovel is still there but the Volunteer was knocked down some years ago.
