Yep, now out of the KFA Youth Cup and 4 months since their last league game Margate went to Deal. Their last league game being against Deal and a rather lucky 1-0 home win it seemed that the management wanted to give the same players a chance to redeem themselves.

With most of the play and all of the chances Margate were unable to find the back of the net despite a couple of good chances. Deal came back late in the half but niether team looked like getting ahead. Bearing in mind that the pitch was very bumpy and the team had not played for 6 weeks allowances have to be made.

Thoughts that their would be changes at half time were soon cancelled as the same line-up battled on. Encouraged by the Margate crowd (3) Paul A who had, as always run his boots off took chances to run at the defence and into the box and it was one of these runs that gave Shane the chance to put the Gate 1-0 up. However, there were seveal good chances well missed and Deal were often a threat. Then on 25 mins Margate were awarded a pen, a good save from Deals outstanding keeper added to Margates frustrations. In the last 15, as in the last game, changes were made to liven things up and although the pace quickened the game ran out with a very close win. Good games from Johnny, Saul, Paul, Chaz and Matt gave the Gate 3 points and a should be a move up the table.

Another 3 points in a game that was crying out for half time changes. Despite the gates forwards missing what i counted was 12 first half chances - Deal keeper making 2 good saves. Gate went in 0-0.

Poor finishing, poor management descision not making changes at half time.(i dont think not playing for 8+ weeks can be used as an excuse here!)

Welcome back Tom Hickman - good to see.

Bit Harsh in print but I do agree. Every player started off with little match fitness so why not give everyone an equal chance. I see there is a home tie in Ullmann cup this weekend will it be back to cancelling home games again until they are kicked out. By the way I see that Woodstock U18s have given up and all results whipped off table.
