AFC HORNCHURCH 2 –2 ARLESEY TOWN

RYMAN LEAGUE DIVISION 1 NORTH SATURDAY 10th MARCH

Arlesey faced their sternest test for some time when they traveled to the runaway league leaders last Saturday, Hornchurch were looking for the double having won at The Raj Villa Stadium last November.

This again showed Arlesey at their best & they looked to be heading for all three points until a rally in the final twelve minutes saw the league leaders get out of jail.

Overall this match showed the steady improvement made under Player Manager Darren Hay & the whole team can take credit from this spirited & organized performance.

Until the later stages The Blues defense stood firm & they were always dangerous in attack where Ashley Townsend was a constant threat, almost grabbing the glory in injury time.

Arlesey took the lead in the 10th minute TOWSEND ran at the home rearguard who backed off, he unleashed a shot form all of twenty five yards that gave home keeper Brightley no chance.

Towsend continued to lead his markers a merry dance & engineering space on the right his cross was headed wide by Darren Hay, the home side had not delivered a worthwhile shot on goal & when Lee Tekell hammered a free-kick narrowly wide the alarm bells began to ring.

The visitors went two up in the 52nd minute Craig Rydeheard persisted in foraging for the ball his lobb eluded home keeper Cross for WAYNE MILLS following up to head into an empty net.

Cruise control as Arlesey preserved their advantage until the 78th minute when Steve Dogbe was adjudged to have brought down JANEY, some what harshly, the home striker recovered & converted from the spot.

Then with five minutes remaining CROSS miss hit a shot that wrong footed everyone including Jack Rashid & ended in the net, Towsend appeared to have the final say another burst on goal with defenders trailing saw his effort inches from the winner.

It isn't easy writing match reports especially if you don't know the oppositiion players or are watching the game from the other end of the pitch to where the action is taking place.

Got it wrong on many an occasion.
