On reflection

Now that we have had time to get over yesterdays match what are peoples thoughts on where we are going this season. Looking at todays tables and the results they very much went our way yesterday and we only lost ground to Chelmsford. Although they are 7 points above us they are catchable. We have a game in hand over them and still have them to play. Lets face it we are capable of beating them when we are on form. That could possibly leave us 1 point behind them with all to play for. Surely we can't play as bad as we did yesterday again this season. Another big boost is abviously, if I'm bot mistaken, nearly a complete squad to choose from with no injuries (not counting Abbo). Also another match yesterday without any cautions, therefore we must look on the positive side and hope that RT can get the team motivated again for the run-in. The Championship is still there for Margate to win lets get behind the team.

I think it's interesting that the Hampton game is often talked about as the start of our recent drop in form. Indeed Mike F refers to it again in his interview with me for www.margate-fc.com. The loss of McKimm and Skinner have been key, as well as the lack of depth in the squad. Personally, I'm not a critic of that as the youngsters are getting a look in now; Smith, Bagley and Wisker all featuring yesterday. And of course, when we have our first 11 available then I believe we are the best team in te league. Also, I wonder how much of a psychological blow that game at Hampton was. Since then, 6 played, 3 defeats, 2 draws and 1 win.

I like your observation about our prospects too. With a quarter of our season still left, a lot can happen: AFC at Hendon being a good example. I just hope more people from Margate get down to Harstdown Park to watch the run in to a possible promotion.

Now i normly do not criticize but two centre backs no pace, and apart from Jay no midfield to sheild them Justin did his upmost but like a fish out of water only when he returned to his left back roll and linked with Jacko,we at least started to look like a unit again down that side,as for Hockton well im sorry because i dont think he performed yesterday,Bagley looks a very good prospect but needs to be nurtured, all in all i think apart from those afore mentioned names along with Greg Oats i think the game is best forgotten. Many will say that we are severely depleted yes i agree, but it is going to take more than one season to build strength and depth that is required.

Interesting that Proths is not so downbeat as us supporters, listening to his comments yesterday. Disappointing as yesterday was, I think with our missing players back we should begin to perform again, and it only takes a good win to keep us up there in the mix.

At the end of the day, having watched us being disappointing for several seasons now, on the results so far this season it has been a great time to follow Margate.

I am going to remain fairly optimistic that we can get there or thereabouts by April.

Yes, must agree that hearing Lee being very positive shows that recent performances affect us much more than the team!!!

Our messages about the red and yellow cards must have got through too. No further suspensions will obviously help us out. Even the referees have been reasonably kind to us of late!!
