I was wondering?

I knew a club in 1948 was clled Leytonstone, then it became Leytonstone and Ilford, then it absorbed Walthamstow Avenue and became Redbridge Forest (when maybe it should have been named Leytonstone and Walford ;)), then it became (and still is) Dagenham and Redbridge but the bigger its name became the less glorious were its achievements.....until, perhaps, 2007.......

It'll be 30 years ago this year Zodes. I eventually got bombed by a bloke called Mike Connolly. He was a Class 'A' knobjockey!!!

The fact I still remember his name 30 years later and would gladly punch his lights out if I met him again tells you how much I disliked him!!!

Come to think of it, as he's also 30 years older now he's probably well into his 60s..... I'd settle for kicking his stick away!!!

Micky Connelly? I think he managed me at Clapton. Was he a bit of a geezer, wore long coats, balding head with a bit of black hair? Sounds like a flasher doesn't he....... chloe

Yeah thats him. He managed the reserve side when I was there and Johnny Arnham was in charge of the firsts. He gave me my first chnace at this level and really encouraged me. Funny how one manager you like and one you hate! Lots of the players thought he was a mug though. He had a black guy Terry as his assistant. Can't remember his surname but its a shame he never took over or got a chance with the first team because he was a great coach and everyone liked him.
