MOTM vs Boreham Wood

Margate Don

I know it's a little early given my usual time taken to do this, but here is the poll for todays match, happy voting! Although there's really only one player I think even close to winning it, reliable Pat!

Both Pat & Trotty were awful at the back today.

I'm having trouble trying to think of an outstanding player at all from today. Individual lacklustre performances all round I thought.

I'm sure I'll think of one above all the others later, but at this moment in time I can only think back to seeing 11 men giving 11 poor performance today..(Wiska didnt get a chance to shine).

Usually I can pick one out from all of them but not this time I'm afraid.

Possibly Chris & maybe he will get my vote but even he kept hold of the ball too long on occasions & generally turned back into trouble from his own play. His ball control let him down too. But that applied to all others as well.

However, yes,he does give more effort than most & I suppose he did so again today therefore he has my vote but purely for that reason alone.

This was the worst performance I have seen from a Gate side in a long time, there was no team spirit especially after half time, passing was awfull,DH didnt look interested, why oh why did we have to play players out of position, putting JJ in the centre of mid wont work, then when we put him out wide and bring on DW,who IMO should have started the game JJ dont get the ball,to be fair we should have been 4 up B4 they got there 1st goal, really peed off with that performance,we are better than this.

Im going for Greg only because they were all crap and he did make a few decent runs throughout the match even for an old man and he is one of the few we have that have any commitment at the mo , probably why he is still in the 1st 11 most of the time and a long time servent of our club.

The ref for me.

No cards for a change.

He was a bit fussy about taking free kicks from the exact spot but that is preferable to giving sides too much leeway.

In football terms? Awful springs to mind.

First half Baggers got some good crosses in but other than that I remember nothing good.

Thought the Ref was excellent, constantly warning players to 'play it sensible' and announcing 'good tackle' when the result could be debatable. Talked to the players enough to avoid having to book them.

BTW I was talking to Ray before the game and he pointed out that the Ref & 2 lino's were having a kick-about to warm up. Neither of us ever recall seeing that happen before.

I also thought the ref was good today, and as was stated earlier no cards thrown about, but spoke to the players (although to the players credit it was not a dirty game). This also prevents players constantly arguing with the ref and questioning every decision. After some of the talk this season about reporting refs to the league for a bad performance it should also be possible to tell the league when we get a good one.
