hamp v bill score updates

We could and probably should have taken all 3 points today. Lost count of the number of corners we had, but failed to capitalise. Definately the better team, but missed Flacky up front. Defensively we adapted well to life without Blewitt. Personally I'd have liked to see AA on a bit earlier.

Nice club and a decent day out in the sunshine.

Results elsewhere have really gone our way as well, with only Chelmo winning.

A point from a tough away fixture, and all in all I think we're better off tonight than we were this morning grin

Pitch was in bad shape - had cut up when wet and then not been rolled so when it dried it was badly rutted making passing play tricky to say the least. First half reflected that with neither keeper really having a save to make. 2nd half we've had the better of the play and the two best chances of the match - one well hit by Heffs that was well saved and one for Holland that he passed back to the keeper when he should have done better...

Positives: Thought Hill had his best game for us in midfield, Hodges and Allen both looked sharp when they came on. Defended well, against a good quality front line.

Missed Flackie today, hopefully back for Slough. Burbs was pretty quiet, so I might be tempted to go for a Holland - Flack front line for Slough? As I said Allen looked sharp, but I still think he needs games to get his fitness up.

Worster

Macca Heffer Dormer Kerras

Game Hill Hunter

Whelpdale Holland Burbridge

Subs:

Hodges for Hill

Allen for Burbridge

SNU: Swaine, Julius, Wayman(gk)

Funny old game and I thought it was one more of cat and mouse than football yesterday...both sides not willing to gamble. I thought Burbs played better when Hodges came on and was releived of his left wing duties (which he really isn't a left winger) and played a central forward role. I was disapointed when he was substitued as I thought he had more to offer there. I'm taking a rain cheque on Allen at the mo...I've yet to see the player that played for Chelmsford.

Overall, I thought we offered very little punch up front and our midfield and defence were superb, especially Dormer, who once again was asked to step into a central defensive role and was superb...Captain Marval in my opinion.

Still, getting a point at the Beveree is not to be sneezed at in my opinion. A tough place to get anything from at the best of times and another point to solidify our play off place. Well done the lads.

A Draw was, I thought a good result, we did have the better of the chances, (they had none) and on another day we might have nicked all three.

So far, of the top seven, we have played Chelmo twice and gained 4 points, Wimbledon twice and gained 3 points, Tonbridge twice and won all 6 points, + 4 from Hampton. We still have to play Margate but we go into that game with 3 points on the board and to Bromley with who we have already gained a point.

In our first Six games we gained just 7 points, but since that time our form has been outstanding, and with 10 games left its going to be an exciting season.

Well done lads, we're all proud to be Billericay Town supporters.

Great support again yesterday, twas Hamptons highest gate of the seson so far.

Another nice club and nice people. Good luck Hampton for the rest of the Season

I agree it was a bit of a tactical battle, maybe we just edged the game overall but really the defences were well on top and neither side created enough to win the game.

I think we can take quite a bit from the game, we defended very well despite the loss of Blewitt, I think it just emphasises what a valuable player Dorms is to our squad. In midfield Whelps and Gameo were a bit quiet, but Leon was excellent (my MOTM) and both Danny Hill and Lee Hodges can be pleased with the contributions they made. Up top Billy gave it everything again although he had a struggle against their 6 and Adrian looked sharper when he came on. Personally I think Burbs has been shocking in the last two games and IMO he needs to shape up or shape out.

I would have taken a point from this game beforehand and the way the other results have gone I am more than happy with it now. Bit miffed to see that Walton and Ashford have started winning though!!

Still all to play for and looking forward to next week.

How much pitch time has he had Gaz ? Always rated him when at City , pacy not scared to shoot and a nice fella to boot , I reckon he will come good for you if he gets time on the pitch.

Think that sums it up. Picking up on the point of (they had none). Never a truer word spoke at a football match. Now if i am not mistaken Ronnie only went to ground once in the whole game and that was to clear outside his box. So, you gotta say that ALL the players made that achievable in cancelling Hampton. I guess it was more of a midfielders day and once again our midfield battled and worked tirelessly for each and everyone of their team mates. Up front the tactic (i am probably wrong)!!! was to pull their centre half out as Burbs was effectively man marked by their number 5. That in turn did allow Billy et al to have a little more freedom, but fair play to Hampton they also showed good resiliance and yes on another day we may well have finished with all 3 points. But, and it is a BIG but, we have gone to Hampton, taken the game to them and the biggest plus for me is how much those lads (we have) really do work for one another. I certainly believe in them!

So, in my opinion this team works well together, has a never say die attitude and genuinely want to achieve things TOGETHER.

Hats off to you lads cos that was a tough game against very decent opposition.

My only gripe on the day was the potential by Hamptons bench to make a sub without the ref seeing...And i think we all know what that was about.

Finally, it was nice to watch football in the sun eh?! The coach driver was once again top dollar. Quote of the day though from him was when asked the toilet door is locked...."Ar f%)K just force the thing open"

Well done lads and management that point was defo won !!
