Do certain ESL clubs get preferential...

maybe burnham wanted it changed because the cup is the only thing they can win so this gives them few more weeks to put a side together.

From Brentwood's website today:

"Tomorrow's fixture

Tomorrow’s Essex Senior League Cup semi-final 1st leg at home to Burnham Ramblers has had to be postponed as Burnham, who have recently had a significant change in the their playing personnel, do not have enough players who are eligible to appear in the match. Hopefully, the situation will be resolved and the game can be played at a later date. But this means that the 1st team now have a rearranged league match AWAY to Burnham."

Seems like fair play to me... unless Port's switch from Burnham to Brentwood is not seen in the same light.... achso

I think that's the plan, hence the postponement!!!

Of course I don't know the rules of competition but if a club cannot put enough players who qualify according to the rules out for a match on the date specified shouldn't they automatically be scratched as well as Coup's head.

P.S. Watch out for alcohol poisoning from the splinters mate! grin

From the Burnham forum of 23 Feb by coach et 64:

"it shows that paying large amounts of money doesn't garantee anything. You need other qualities to win the Esl.you give me the burnham keeper, portway and john easterford and i win that league."

I don't know whether that answers your questions adequately if at all but it's the best I can do until someone who knows the facts for sure can chip in their 4 pennorth....

Without knowing the rules of the League Cup competition, I can only speculate that whilst the rules are being scrutinised to see if Burnham must forfeit their place, they decided to get a league game out of the way while they could.

The goalposts get moved for the semi-final of the League Cup (as we only know too well to our cost).

Each player has to have appeared in at least TWO league games. But surely Burnham haven't lost that many players?

Stewards needed methinks...
