Club fundraising / social events

Recommended Posts

I've been helping to organise social events at TAFC for about 5 years now and am starting to run out of original ideas. If anyone out there has got any (sensible) suggestions I'd be grateful to hear. We rely on money over the bar & socials to keep the club going (not to pay player wages but rates, Sky TV, electric etc.)

Happy to exchange ideas as I'm sure all clubs in the SSML could do with a little extra cash!

Thanks

As you may know, or have probably heard on here, we haven't got our own ground or any facilities to speak of so are sadly forced to go out on the streets banging on doors and all but selling the Big Issue which isn't ideal, most doors are slammed in our faces however if you have belief in the Club and what you are trying to achieve then anything is possible. I've always admired Tring and the dedication of your Committee to keep the Club going, your facilities are second to none since you built the new bar which is ideal for all kinds of socials as you say. When I was at Haringey I tried to involve the wider Community in the Club and that could be an avenue for you to pursue, people don't need to be into football to come down and you could for example arrange basket weaving classes for little old ladies or dance and yoga events, the sky really is the limit with facilities like yours.

Thanks Rhodes, we have Yoga on Monday nights that gets about 15 people & the instructor runs the class for nothing so all money goes to the club. At most of our social events we get a lot more members & friends than players. We are lucky with the facilities we have built & the number of people that give up their time for the club (rather than all the work going to 2/3 individuals.) The word seems to be spreading locally about our facilities & we are in the position to be able to turn down 18th & 21st b'day parties to protect what we have rather than chase the fast buck.

We do all sorts of private functions from christenings & school reunions to weddings & wakes! I just feeling we are running out of original ideas for club functions.
