I bumped into

a former Boro player at Barking on Tuesday evening who is now with Ilford and he expounded the theory that even if the Foxes finish in the bottom two of Rym 1N at the end of the season they will not get relegated because no ESL team high enough to do so will have the necessary ground grading to go up.

Is there any accuracy to this assumption?

correct i believe . Romford obviously cant go up and neither can Brentwood as there is no way they are gonna finish their ground by 31st march . You have to finish in the top 2 of your league to be considered for promotion so only hope for esl i think lies with Barkingside .

i cant see how brentwood wont be going up. yes i see what everyone is saying about their ground and i agree. but the amount of dough they are shelling out and STILL shelling out must be some sort of indication they are looking to go up. why pay the dough if there is nothing but a trophy to show for it.

My opinion is that under the current status quo (no jokes about rocking all over the world please) he may well be correct but with the fifteen current English level 5 leagues being rationalised down to twelve next season there will probably be a shuffling around of clubs to achieve a more suitable geographically centralized location.

If the ESL still exists in 2007/8 it might lose some clubs to the SSML (sadly Sawbo comes to mind for a start, but I hope not for historical reasons) and pick up others from elsewhere to make up a minimum 20 or 22 club constitution. You know who I'm referring to!

Under those circumstances I can still see Ilford if they qualify for relegation rejoining us next season.

That's what puzzles me Small One. Unless they are having a kit grade c ground dropped into the Br ntwood Centre on March 29th! grin

Nowt wrong with Bowers from a fan's point of view.

Ground is accessible, plenty of parking spaces both in the ground and off street, plenty of covered area and seats, great burgers and a huge bar area.

Not so good from a player's point of view. Crap pitch (Oct to Mar), tiny dressing rooms, poor showers.

When I was a player a ground was defined by the latter. Now I'm a fan I look to the former!!!
