But surely you have answered your own question ??? I think you'll find the new "rule of three" regarding smoking in roofed areas doesn't apply , the new seating area meets new safety regs with regard to smoking ,and the only non-smoking stand is the main wooden seated one . Things may change in July , but they don't need to as far as rules and regs allow .

Actually no i dont think i answered my own question!i didnt want a lecture on regs and standards, it was a straight forward question.there are all sorts of rules within the ground, that people are quite happy to ignore, so smoking could have been one of them,i,m also aware of the rule in july coming into force, but we dont know as of yet how its going to come into play at a fleet game.

i cant agree with you enough. brewers fayres and the like ok, but not spit and sawdust pubs where bad stuff is part and parcel of walking in. gambling, swearing, drunkenness and smoking. noone would take a family in these places so why canbt they smoke?

Because not everyone who works in those bars wants to breathe in the putrid fumes. As for the 1984 society comment, I think protecting people from dying of cancer or similarly nasty diseases is a good public service. Beer does not have this effect in small levels, nor is it as addictive as cigarettes.

even small amounts of drink can make you make mistakes, drive your car and kill people, quicker than cancer, same result !

I find it quite humorous that you equate 'good pubs' with allowing smoking. I would have thought that being a 'loser' would entail killing youself slowly with white sticks in order to look cool, rather than taking your chances breathing fresh air in a 'boring' pub?

Tell that to the thousands of students who work the bars! Not an issue for argument - from July 1 - LAW - end of!
