AFC Wimbledon - ePetition to the Sports Minister

Recommended Posts

As mentioned above, it will be interesting to see what happens to West Ham.

I know some really good West Ham fans, and if the club is docked the points gained when fielding the two players, I still say that - the club broke the rules and should be punished accordingly.

Before this gets completely out of hand, it is a rule thing, NOT an anti AFC Wimbledon thing. Yes it is an injustice, but the rules and punishments are clearly stated and should be abided by, just like the 10 point deduction for going into administration (but that is another issue)

The rule applies at present so should be acted upon as has happened with other clubs. At the seasons end an alternative punishment should be decided upon.

You only have to look at the FA site disciplinary area to see that the Welsh clubs are dealt with by a seperate FA and surely this site is perused from time to time by club secretary's & officials.

Last season when a query was raised about an attendance figure AFC claimed that they were a well run club who knew and applied all of the rules. Apparently not on this occasion and so now suffer the consequences as did Altrincham, Weymouth & Maidenhead.

If there was one FA for all home countries then we would all have to play as GB, why do you think the Scots are not prepared to play in the olympics? It is because they do not want to lose their independence.

Wimbledon should just learn a lesson and get on with it.

Sorry Warren but i'm with Gary et al on this one - the simple fact is if anyone else in the Ryman League had played a foreign player - even if he is only from across the Severn - they would have been subject to the same punishment - and what's more, would probably have accepted it grudgingly, without appealing on a prime minister's petition board.

I will agree that the few AFC fans i've spoken to have been very nice - but that does not justify bending the rules for the club.

A couple of points:

On the Ryman player registration form (freely available for download on the Ryman League site - take a look), one of the sections says:

"If last Club outside England, has International Transfer Certificate been obtained*"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Cardiff ain't in England. Or at least it wasn't when I was at school. So if I was filling out the form I'd make sure I at least phone the Ryman League/FA to find out what's what.

Secondly, I'd like to see what would happen if it was someone like Leyton who this had happened to. What kind of chance would they stand with their fanbase of about 25, that is if they even wanted to appeal?

Not to mention the cost to the Ryman League (and consequently Ryman clubs) of unjustified legal action.

IF AFC take the Ryman leauge to court and win and costs are awarded, it has been implied that the other teams in the Ryman leauge would have to pay the cost of the Ryman leauge and AFC's costs - how many teams would this take under (Slough for sure!)and how many freinds would AFC have left?!

If AFC want to be taken seriously they need to think of others and not just themselves!

Its so difficult , when it effects your own club ..of course you will try to battle it out and try to over turn the decision, in this case 18 points deduction is harsh in anyone's book ... but its like a penalty some are certian some are not and your not going to overturn the refs decision..

I personally think the that a player coming from wales to english registration is too ridiculas for words ! welsh teams play in english leagues , so I can see why they are appealing, but like most things in life if you upset the authorities (The FA) you just get they backs up ! and will get no where in the end !

I think the FA does sod all for non league teams and should be abolished , but thats another story...

Taken from the e-petition that they are trying to get people to sign:

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to I am asking the Sports Minister, RH Richard Caborn MP, to intervene with the Football Association after my football club was "unfairly" docked points and thrown out of the FA Trophy, following a technical administrative error".

They couldn't even word their own e-petition right. It doesn't even read correctly!
