ARTIFICIAL PITCHES

At times like this one can see how they could be very useful, but i must say that for me a real playing surface still tops it,i guess with the plastic version its available whatever the conditions chuck at you,you can play your games from first team to reserves, and youth, and have training on the same surface,i hope the club get through this very difficult period when cash flow must be a nightmare to handle, and not forgetting RT and players those guys with three match bans cant get games its going to be like pre season for some when they are available again.

Dartfords pitch is a mixture of synthetic and grass I believe. Saw a game last Tuesday and despite rain on it it did not detract from good passing football being played on it. Maybe something to look at?

If you're referring to Darts v T+M, presume you were in the bar all match ? Passes were flying off the pitch throughout the evening. A couple of very ordinary teams....

The Luton Town pitch was a great revenue earner, it was bookable by anybody to play on whenever it was not being used by the club.Visiting teams especially Liverpool did not like it but Mick Harford and co enjoyed playing on it.From distant memory i think peer pressure led to its removal.

More down to the quality of the players than the pitch i reckon Kevin M wink

I was very impressed with the pitch. Water was sitting on it on arrival, but it didn't cut up and splatter everywhere. It is possible to get FA approval for synthetic pitches now. They are far superior to what they use to be. Tunbridge Wells, haven't been able to play a home game in gawd knows how long and are definitely going down this route.

I was with Luton at the time and I can tell you it was dangerous to play on. Dartfords pitch cost £650,000 to lay but it should last for 20 years I was told by groundsman. These new 3g pitches are now sanctioned by fifa and Blackburn played a Russian team in this years uefa.
