is the pitch goint to be covered again

On removing those covers which were sort of on the pitch Saturday morning it was clear that the efforts had all been in vain. The water which lay on the covers ended up back on the pitch which already looked like a bog, about 20mm of surface water and very soft under foot. There seemed little point in laying them again. There is about 300mm of soil which can not hold any more water then a very compact base which is not allowing water thruogh. The covers only covered the centre of the pitch and at best all that would happen is the water run to another area but not drain away. If this is now the trend which the weather is going to take in the future the drainage will have to be sorted.

I think the club should take whoever supposedly sorted this out to court - they have made it worse not better. The least the club could do come the end of the season is to demand that they come back in and sort it properly

I think that we have been very unfortunate with the weather this year (ie. the timing of downpours). But certainly this is one of the wettest winters we have had in Thanet for years, whereas last year it was one of the dryest! But we cannot afford many more postponements or we will face a fixture backlog in the next few months. Hopefully it will start to dry up soon!

We're not the only one's with a water logged pitch, take a look at the Birmingham game on Sky. You can see water splashing up as the players run, sliding on the pitch with a bow wave in front of them, and several obviously very boggy patches as well. It's still raining there at the moment. Same as it is at Palm Bay at the moment.

And interestingly, we have played the same number of games as a lot of teams around us so it doesn't look to be a problem that only we are facing.

its a shame it sounds like the covers didn't help, but maybe the sheer amount of rain we had on Friday night combined with 70 mile an hour gusts did their worst, as said earlier either full pitch covers or total drainage are the solution.

wellsie yes others are missing games but when was our last Saturday home game, 13 of jan i think? its hitting mfc where it hurts in the pocket.

Mocking Wimbledon? What the heck you talking about Willis?!!!

The club are not experts on pitch drainage - I believe they brought a company in to sort this out. I hope they used Ray as an advisor but since I do not know the fine details I can't say. Ray has done bl**dy well to do what he has done so I believe he certainly not at fault.

Nothing to do with them Rob - and it wasn't a rant. If work isn't done to a satisfactory state then the company should redo it or risk legal action.
