Edgware stretch lead as Hertford LOSE at home!

Recommended Posts

Edgware have come a long way in the last two seasons. Having to sort out the problems left by the previous administration and rebuild the reputation of the club was only part of the work that hat to be undertaken. The appointment of Steve Newing as football manager had for some time been the ambition of the new administration and when he accepted the job with the provision that Del Deanus was appointed as joint manager nobody at the club realised what a potent double act this was to prove to be.

Together they have assembled a squad of players who are a credit to Edgware Town and many long term supporters agree that this is the best 'team' that they have ever seen. Perhaps we all crow too much about the success of our respective clubs, but it only shows we are all passionate about non league football AND THAT CAN'T BE A BAD THING

Hi Gavin - looks like we will be meeting next season (unless we get promoted).

Hornchurch have always had a bit of monet and what PBT is incorrect. They are not playing higher than previously - they were in Ryman Prem at the same time as ourselves. They have always had good support too (like ourselves).

You'll do allright in our eague. When you look at some of the clubs (including PBT) they dont seem to have that many supporters but they all seem to survive and have a half decent squad.

Remember Gav we started from nothing this season with a squad of young lads. The majority of our team are under 21 years of age but ther experience is growing with every math they play. We already have a couple of Conference clubs looking at a couple of our team (and yes you guessed it is all top secret stuff wink ).

All you have to remember is leave that bloody air horn at home!!

Gav, have a look at all the stats that Ian provides for the Ryman One North. Makes interesting reading. You find it in the drop down list on the left of this page (not insulting yor intelligence but not everyone knows where to find it)

Hi Paula, if you dont go up and we do, then yes we will be playing Canvey next season. Its been a good few years since we last played you, so it will be good to play you again.

I hope you make the trip to the WLG as I am sure I will make trip to Canvey smile

You want a whole tea hut for yourself! ;), I am sure we will have something in place for next season. Dont worry though, you will be a special guest, and can come into the boardroom and have free tea and cakes smile

It wont be the VIP treatment, just that I am sure you will be very welcome in the boardroom for our game with you. Tea and the famous Edgware Town cherry bakewells smile and then a drink after the match in the bar. Have you ever been to the White Lion Ground? I have never been to Canvey Island's ground.

No, never been to your ground. I always enjoy going to new grounds especially this season as we dont have to travel so far. It has been nice going to the local grounds (with the exception of Tilbury).

You will all be made welcome at Park Lane too. Make a day of it - we have a few decent pubs not far from the ground and a friendly clubhouse.

I am supprised to see Wingate & Finchley doing so well, do you think they could make the playoffs?

You would struggle with your existing squad. How well you do will depend upon how many players with good Ryman experience you can bring in during the summer.

In my opinion, Wingate & Finchley will not make the play-offs.

I agree we need to bring in some new additons, but I dont agree that we would struggle with the squad we have at present. IF we go up, I am not expecting promotion or playoffs, consolidation is the main priroty then move on from there.

Don't think so, Paula. In 2002, the old Ryman Div 3 was disbanded to make regionalised Div 1's. Hornchurch took one of the seven available promotion places and took a place in the new Div 1, bypassing Div 2 in the process. If memory serves correctly, the money came into the club that next season. 02/03 was Hornchurch's first season at Ryman Div 1 level since relegation in 85/6. I'd call that being in the doldrums.
