I have to say that was more a case of "what a relief" - We (All) seemed to be a bit below par today. It was more of a laborous performance from all of us, but they say the mark of a decent team is to win when subdued.

But we have 3 more precious points, so WELL DONE LADS !!!!

Dont under estimate what a good win this was for the blues today. It was difficult game on a still wet pitch and Hendon have been improving.

The players were frustrated with a sticky ball...give them credit. They worked hard.

Two well taken goals, and one good free kick from Hendon. Good sized crowd although everyone was getting frustrated around me, it was always going to be this way...

Yh as you said Keith we were all below par...

..But i cant help but notice that the refs we've been getting some rather biased refs. Anyone else picked up on that? AFC and now today i feel maybe a complaint is in order.

The performance was a little scrappy. But i think without Whelps we lost another dimension to our game, but a well fought out win and another 3 points on the board.

BLUE ARMY!!!

The league is all about the pressure now - no team can really afford to lose 2 on the bounce so i think we felt under a little pressure. The referee didn't help things - when will these clowns realise we're not there to watch them?

Thought we defended well today, although they probably shaded the possession, Hendon didn't create much from open play. Macca and Kerras in particular were outstanding. Whelps made a difference when he came on, hopefully he'll be fully fit for the trip to Hampton next weekend.

It's worth pointing out that as well as Whelps not being fully fit, the absence of Flackie meant we were without our 2 in-form forwards. Good to see Billy in the goals, and Burbs and Allen will both benefit from getting some football under their belts.

By far a well below par game from us.

Is it a fore gone conclusion to every team that play us that they have an extra man on the pitch?.

And that lino near the club house def should have gone to spec savers.

But yes what ever way they come 3 points are 3 points.

Probably the sort of game that a neutral would have quite enjoyed, but I hated it!

Credit to Hendon they were commited and fought hard for every ball. But once we'd woken up to that and matched them physically the man in black decided that wasn't fair and that he'd even things up a bit.

But despite a well below par performance a couple of quality goals.

Kerrers, for me, was outstanding again.

Shame about all the Yellows (was it 4?). The idiot seemed to dish them in our direction at every opportunity. And was that a good shout for hand-ball in the box towards the end? Looked like it from where I was.

Still, we got the 3 points and are now 4th. Can't complain at that smile

One thing i think must also be mentioned was how much hard work must have gone into making the pitch worthy to play on today. Last week waiting for the buses to wombles the pitch was soggy to say the least, but the work and effort by those (you know who you are) was certainly appreciated by me. Cheers and well done. applause

I must second Keith's comments about those who worked on the pitch. A big well done for an excellent job.

I enjoyed the game today, despite the defeat. Our biggest failing is not taking our chances in front of goal.

We certainly got the better of the decisions from the man in the middle - he did seem to favour us somewhat!

A below par performance today, but the most important thing was the 3 points. I thought Hendon were pretty good today, and played better football than us for large periods. We just couldnt seem to get a foot on the ball, but i think we struggled with missing a couple of players. Having said that, i thought Billy Holland took his chance to shine well, a good performance from him. Whelpdale made a difference when he came on, and scored with a nice finish (i thought it might have been offside?).

Apart from that, the ref was shocking with his favouritism of Hendon, every 50/50 went their way, and plenty more that were nowhere near 50/50. Anyway, no point whinging. A hard fought and vital 3 points, so well done lads. Rather large game at Hampton next week now.

Thanks for that Steve. IMO the ref was pants

I think your league position doesn’t reflect your ability, you looked so much better than a possible relegation. Your players and officials were a credit to our league, good luck for the rest of the season.

The most important thing was the result and the three points were really important for us today.

I have to say that offensively I thought it was our worst performance for some time. The strikers offered very little and until Whelps came on the service was poor. In midfield Hendon won every tackle, every 50/50 and every second ball. Fortunately we defended well (although their goal seemed to go in the middle of the goal to me)and I agree that our two full backs were our best performers on the day.

Hendon I thought battled very gamely and if they can just find a bit of quality where it counts I think they have enough to stay up.

The good thing is we havent played well and we have won. Looking forward to Hampton already.

I would agree that despite the result, the performance was a bit grim. Put that with 37 free kicks in 90 (or was it 105 minutes) of football doesn't really help with flowing football. We were talking to the Hendon manager at the touchline and he was saying we were much better than them on the day but I would agree with jl...Hendon did enough to have at least a share in the spoils.

Yes, I'm looking forward to Hampton...another long journey to enjoy some quality sounds whilst my Missus makes up the directions whistle but after yesterday's performance, I'm a bit concerned about our front line. Hampton are no pushover and altho our record stands as one that is quite respectable at the "Beveree", those kind of records get turned over sometime. Everyone needs to be on their game 'cos Hampton will not be as forgiving as Hendon in both defending and up front!!! Of course this is fairly academic if the "man in the middle" decides that he is the star of the show and performs to the same level as his colleagues have been over the past two games.
