Wimbledon match comments

I agree Pat and Trotty had good games at the back but, I was most impressed with young Louis. He showed on a couple of occasions when he came inside to cover that his true position is centre back. This is where he will be playing for us next season and for many seasons after that. It shows what benefit you get from a well managed reserve team that the first team mangaer has faith in. Well done Mark.

Just got back so thought i would add a few belated comments on yesterdays performance.

Decent result to stem the flow of defeats.

Even first half and AFC shaded the second .

I thought a few of our players looked unfit and ran out of steam on a boggy pitch in the second half.

We just managed to hang on-the difference in second half being that AFC were winning all the 'second ball' in midfield.

I thought we should have resorted to 5 in midfield to try and wrest a bit of midfield control back

Quality game imo though-nil nil draws can be exciting;and a bit like a game of chess-much better than these wreckless 4-3 type games.

Agree with most of other comments-and in particular that JJ looks a totally different player when paired with Skinner.

We were exposed a bit in both full back positions, and whilst Greg was skinned a couple of times, it was not easy for Greg or Louis to turn on a boggy pitch and thought Greg 'recovered well' in second half and takes credit for that.

Smith did ok at full back-distribution poor but it will improve;and agree he has a good future-again not easy when he is in for one game, then out, then in etc.

Sappleton superb, but apart from one mistake in second half, when he left the ball to the AFC player behind him; i thought RT was awesome and again-apart from one almost costly error, i thought that- Trott the player- put in one of the most commanding displays i have seen from a central defender and was my undoubted man of match.(it does seem that RT is prone to good games mixed in with one costly error quite frequently-i wonder if the concentration momentarily goes being a manager and thinking of strategy/changes etc.).Hell of a performance from RT to marginally imo outshine Pat .

Midfield-all did ok but all a bit average i'm afraid and can and must do alot better.

Almost forgot to mention SCS who made his usual couple of superb saves- you almost take his superb performances for granted -he is that good.

(i read in the NLP that he is now the'highly rated goalkeeper';and therefore all future references to SCS should be pre-fixed with HRG-SCS)
