Wimbledon match comments

I'm with Chris1 on this, an 18point penalty is criminal. My suggestion is a fine for every time AFC mis-declared the player + ban him one match for every game he played illegally for. (ie if he played in 12 matches with the wrong registration details - ban him from the next 12). That's still a severe punishment but surely fairer.

For me the issue is the potential inequity between offences. Is what AFC did worse than a club going into Administration? And given that, does 18 versus 10 points seem a reasonable tariff? Should there be a maximum points deducion up toans including the worse potential tariff across all offences? The league does need to point to its robust management and eladership in adminsitering the game, and perhaps in this case it is too late, but I too wonder about the rule itself rathre than the offence and punishment under the existing system.

if its fair to field a player who's not registered then why should we bother to register any at all?

rule are there to make the game fair we have them in every walk of life.

you steal you get nicked and fined. (physical error)

you dont fill in your tax return you get fined and maybe nicked too. (admin error)

you dont register a player you loose points and get fined.

rules seem quite simple to me.

They didn't 'choose' to play him, like a criminal chooses to commit a crime. They didn't know they had done anything wrong.

The rule wasn't properly thought out when it was drafted. It should be changed, and retrospectively backdated to the start of this season. Don't tell me it can't be done. It is only a few words on a bit of paper.

Look at it this way: the club made a mistake. The mistake was discovered by accident when the player was booked. If that had happened in his first match the points penalty would have been nil. If it had happened in the last match of the season the penalty could have been about 80 points.

Same mistake. 0 points. 80 points. Fair? No.

We are talking about a minor clerical error. Not theft. Not going into administration.

Hands up anyone who is so perfect they have never filled in a form wrongly.

Any club could have made the same mistake. Would you be saying the same if Margate were having 18 points deducted?

its a harsh penalty no doubt about that, but it is to the letter of the law. Personally i agree with it. it did take a long time to discover the error though, imagine if it went a lot futher into the season and cost them a lot more points? They should accept it and get on with the rest of their season.

ok lets pretend they amend the points, be it some or all what are the consequences? teams who have been docked in the past whom may have been relegated or denied promotion have grounds for appeal/or reinstatement?

the team who finishes 6th this year would have a legal right to take the ryman to court for not following their own rules they are but 2 things i can think of that could turn the league in to a total farce.

What really let us down was our midfeild, had we been better in midfeild today i think we would have won. It was game that was screaming for a goal, but never happened.

AFC Wimbledon were poor today aswell and we did not make much of their defence which looked weak and vulnerable, they were dreadful up front, but were quite good in midfeild. Roscoe D'Sane was awarded MOTM and i can't understand why as he was very poor.

Overall a good point, but a poor performance.

Some good points there..AFCW were very poor and if Hockton and Pinnock got better service the 3 pointswere there for the taking.
The margate midfield all competed well but sadly lacking in creativity. As for AFCW the points deduction is totally over the top. Their side is very average but its great to see the Gate playing in front of a half decent crowd for once.

Can anyone verify this?

I have heard that the rules of such Leagues are decided on every year at the league AGM. Clubs can suggest rule changes and vote on them.

If this is the case then KFC Pointsallgone will have had the chance in the past to suggest a change to the rules. But the rule book in place for the start of this season says they lose the points!

So as I see it 18 points to be deducted.

They might be better served looking to change the rules for next season!

Abdullah points byebye!

Legend: 1. It has never happened before in this league. There was one similar occurrence in a different league. 2. Any club wishing to contest their league position in court would be wasting their money. It just won't happen.

Pinklady: Didn't see where Proths got MOM? Official MOM was Dsane, who was kept quiet by Pat Sap all afternoon. So I am in complete agreement with you and other posters on PS for MOM. Perhaps we will get the chance to vote in a poll.

Abdullah: I think you will be proved right and the rule will be amended with the words 'up to a maximum of 10 points' or similar.
