Just heard on BBC Essex.

The CHELMSFORD ( city ) game is off.

No mention of any other Ryman League games.

 

Nothing new there then.

I've just dropped BBC Essex a polite email suggesting that very thing!

Er, ... er, you mean there are other clubs in Essex other than Chelmsford Town?

Well, I quite agree with this comment. Then again, who actually listens to BBC Essex anyway? I grew up in Billericay and in my youth never found a lot to interest me from that station. Its target audience seems to be middle-aged/old people who live in little thatched cottages near Saffron Walden and there is virtually nothing to interest anybody else.

The sports coverage is ok if you support Shrimpers or Colchester, but in some ways seemed quite haphazard, ameuterish and badly put together.

Probably Chelmsford get more coverage simply because Chelmsford is a bigger town than Billericay (160,00 to 40,00) and therefore the BBC deem that there will naturally be more public interest in that town's team. After all, there are many towns with a similar population to Chelmsford that have league teams e.g Colchester, Ipswich.

Not fair but it's simply that way it is.

Oops. I meant Chelmsford has 160 thousand compared to Billericay's forty thousand but I wrote it wrong. You know what I mean.

I couldn't really give a rats [****!!****] about BBC Essex and Chelmsford at the mo. We have a tie in with a two commercial radio stations, we get our reports through the Echo, Gazzette and the web. If some of the media want to ignore us, well that is their loss...not ours.

 

Lets concerntrate on winning promotion and moving up through the leagues...then we can't go wrong on the media front.
