Leslie "Truxy" Wakeman.

I was sad to learn in Thursday's edition of The Reporter of the death of one of the original G&NFC team members, Les Wakeman who lived in Greenhithe. Not only did he play and score in our first ever game, he finished second-top scorer at the end of the season too. It was a particularly sad way for him to lose his life (see the Reporter for details). Les was 85.

This has led me to wonder if anyone knows who the oldest surviving Fleet player currently is? Also, does the Club mark the death of former players in any way eg a representative attending at a funeral, flowers or card to next of kin? Does the Club even have any directory of past players for such circumstances? If anyone has any information please post it on the forum.

Sadly, while recovering from MRSA he contracted Clostridium difficile ('C Diff') during a 14 week stay in Darent Valley Hospital. His son is reported to have remarked "...the lack of hygene was frightening."
