much irony today

so we see the front page announcement by Michael White that the Council are to sell of over 150 plots of recreational land....most interesting when you think of Romfords plight over the years in trying to get the council to give them a plot of land....

we have also heard that romford have found it impossible to find a plot of land in recent years despite having scoured the borough....well we already had one which no one offered to buy and we have recently taken up options on two more...(pays to keep in front of the baying pack) grin

Mr White also advises us that the council cannot fund the upkeep of their current sport and recreational facilities...raises the question then...how the fck can they look after the stadium or will romford be doing it....(50 grand in may for the new pitch)

much irony today and much fun and games to come..

Romford Chairman says, and I quote: "I haven't heard anything that would make me confident that we can tell Ford we won't be there next season."

As far as I am aware, we have never made any advances to the council as to sharing with HX, but have for the past 15 years we have pleaded with them for a plot of land. Well it seems your scouts are better than ours, so come on Uncle dont be greedy how about letting us buy one of your spare plots.

but with respect you wouldn't be aware of any approaches to the council about a groundshare would you..

this issue is not really about romford FC per se but about the heavy handed approach of the council in attempting to appropriate assets belonging to someone else...even the dimmest boro fan would surely not want to share the stadium with us...

as for land...well there is a lot of it around....and most of it is up for sale...I do accept of course that it is hard to find plots for football grounds adjacent to the brewery site... grin

Hello Uncle over there...... I spoke to Zody this week for the first time in ages..... he has got a lot better you know....getting very strategic these days and will soon be speaking to the nation to challenge a claim that too much pre-match is not good for global warming.

I agree with you about the council and their methods, and a groundshare is the worst possible option for any body. Every peice of land we have looked at is either green belt or earmarked for redevelopment, except the H/hill site which the council themselves put forward then claimed we misunderstood them at the time!!! There will be a massive bit of land near the brewery site soon, on the old hospital site but wait no,thats earmarked for more houses and apartments.

If you do decide to build a new ground bloody good luck with the planning permission

accept this on face value BT....our fight is not with your club or steve gardner who we have much respect for.....there are many of influence at Hx who believe that an organised and tailored groundshare would be good for both clubs....I am not one of them I must add but my voice carries little these days although I can see the benefits for Hx....

no...its about the council and their devious plans to take over the stadium and ride rough shode over anyone who can stop them....they may well think that the old powerful Hx is gone and the new lame duck is easy meat...they are to be found very much mistaken if that is the case... cool

you would do well to beware of gift bearing greeks...fortunately for you SG knows that only too well..

Last I heard the Green Belt land designation was under review so Romford have another look eh!Plots might well be available. The council is always looking to make money by flogging assets and allowing even more flats and houses to swamp an already crowded borough...so make them an offer! Brown envelope probably required wink

UM we "gave up" as you say when this crap council kept finding ways to con more money out of us for more and more surveys. What was amazing is they told us that they wanted assurances we could make a go of it if they found a bit of land for us to buy. After keeping the club going for 15 years without a ground what do they think we could do with one of our own. And I dont mean groundshare with HX
