Calling All Slough Fans

I'm a Sunderland supporter,and was wondering if there was a manager of your team with the first name John at any time, who may have played for sunderland. Here's the reason i'm asking

was it John Docherty that managed slough for a bit? but not sure if he played for Sunderland or not.

I know who you mean it's a John Thirkel who when I knew him all those years ago was a little economical with the truth-never played for Sunderland as we know them-but he did come from Sunderland, and he may have had trials for Sunderland boys, but he also went to school at langley secondary so draw your own conclusions.I believe he did help out the Slough reserve manager one season, and yes he was a usful " park player" lets just say he would have got into this Slough team no prob.Hope all this helps.
