Kentish Town...............on the brink?

Recommended Posts

This has got to be an April fool. None of it adds up:

1) It's not on the FA website

2) It's not on the Wembley Website

3) Isn't David Balheimer your press man, if so why is the press release on the Hendon site by Siddhartha Finch?

4) Siddartha Finch was the subject of the notorious article The Curious Case of Sidd Finch written by George Plimpton and first published in the April 1, 1985 issue of Sports Illustrated.

The subhead of that article read: "He's a pitcher, part yogi and part recluse. Impressively liberated from our opulent life-style, Sidd's deciding about yoga —and his future in baseball." The first letters of these words spell out "Happy April Fools Day."

Good effort Hendon, and good luck with your new ground, wherever it may be

SteveR - Well you haven't denied EnfieldTil IDie's post, why would you go to such lengths to carry out such a masterful April fool, the story was all over the NLP like a rash today and your reputation could well be tarnished for time wasting. Anyway I thought you were going to Wembley FC (Vale Farm) and not the other place a mile up the road.

You really are a the biggest idiot I have ever come across. Read the thread properly before you post and you will see that I've agreed that our friend from Enfield was correct in saying it was an April Fool, indeed some of our other friends had indicated they'd spotted it was an April Fool as well.

The Non League Paper were in on the joke!

Perhaps you should call our secretary tomorrow to see what he thinks of it - I don't think you'll find he agrees with your feelings, he's one of the people that was behind us going ahead with it.

SteveR - Well I will be surprised if that is the case as I wouldn't have thought that your Secretary, with his old school approach, would endorse such a silly trick on people despite it being an April Fool, I will certainly ring him tomorrow. I'm also surprised that the NLP were in on the joke all along as it surely makes them look silly and will iritate their readers when they realise they have been misled.

Paulb - Really, well I certainly fell for it hook line and sinker when I read it in the non league paper this morning and even bought a copy especially as I normally just flick through it these days instead of parting with my hard earned cash. So you see SteveR's scam has cost me £1.40 and I'm iritated and misled for starters, the same must have happened to countless other people as you don't pick up a newspaper and expect to read something that has absolutely no truth in it.

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

As I said, feel free to call Graham today. Indeed, it's not even my "scam", I just put it on our website, it was written by our press officer.

I presume you treat all April Fool's in the same way? I rather suspect that every paper published yesterday had one somewhere.

You clearly don't have a sense of humour - everyone else, and I don't just mean on this board, has found it funny.

The whole point of a good April fool is that it is believable.

He definitely won't ring now!

All the papers were at it yesterday. The People ran a story saying Razor Ruddock was coming out of retirement to ease West Ham's defensive injury crisis.

Sad thing is that would not have suprised anyone!!!!

Rhodes, If you'd bothered to read the posts you would have seen that SteveR replied 2 minutes after my "revelation" with a well done sir

Excellent April Fool to be honest, something that was possibly believeable but with enough clues, if you were inclined to delve deeper, to proof it wasn't.

If you go to the post you will see a link to Wikipedia which shows that Sports Illustrated did an elaborate hoax on April 1st 1985

Take a joke man, even the tv show Panorama did it once (50 years ago) with the "spaghetti growing on trees in Switzerland" report

To be honest I was waiting for you to post with a Kentish Town to play again at Potters Bar after reconcillation talks with the Secretary. But that would have just been totally unbelieveable from the start!

All of Rhodes' posts could be taken as April Fool's spoofs!
