Abusing the Ref

A Non E Mouse

Recommended Posts

As we are only half way through the week and there hasn't been much happening - how about your views on the following........

Just noticed a comment made on the Hornchurch forum which mentioned "sin bins" for players when having a verbal with the ref.

Probably been discussed before but what are your thoughts for the game as a whole?

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing something introduced at junior level where you can already see 12,13 and 14 year olds starting to have a go at the ref. Will it have the desired effect in changing the way players react to decisions in the future or is it all a waste of time and nothing will change players verbally attacking the ref.......

Thoughts?

It's disgusting that players of that age (12-14) are doing this. As with a lot of things, you start with the youngest level. If you are a good teacher, then drilling something into the kids will carry with them throughout their lives.

On an adult level, I would like to see stronger punishments after the event. If the FA/UEFA/FIFA would grow a pair and start cutting all this nonsense right out, then everyone would be better off. Attendances could go up, same with viewing figures, if you have a cleaner, more enjoyable product to put out. The youngsters would also be more inclined to copy a skillful move than shout and whine like an overpaid tart.

It would at least be entertaining though to see half the Chelsea team in a sin bin!

In my opinion, sin bins are a backward step in keeping control of a game. I had a situation on Sunday in a Sceptre League Colin Tyler Cup match. Went to book a player, who proceeded to tell me to "stick the card up my a**e" and called me a "f**king mug". Result - straight red and no further part played.

Sin binning him would have only meant he's back on 15 minutes later to have the last laugh. By sending him off he has let himself and his team down, who went on to lose the match 1-0. For me, that is a far harsher penalty to pay.

o have to agree with glen, if refs started carding every player that was mouthy to them it wouldnt take to many players getting sent off before they figured it out. you also have to make sure that the refs dont swear at the players (i think there should be ,ajor punishment if they do) like in the Wigan v Arsenal game recently.

the rules of the game are there to clamp down on this kind of thing it just needs brave refs to carry it out at all levels.

Its the managers who control events on the field.

If they stopped selecting those who continually pick up yellow and red cards then the players would do what the manager requests.

Have a look at the Reading players and you can see the discipline of their manager whilst still seeing the passion required at that level.

It is 100% bullshine to hear a Wenger say "they must have a passion for the game"

Matthews never swore at a Ref,Lofthouse never threw his handbag, chopper never paraded his knickers and they were real men.

P.A BIRD YOU BORE ME,i know you are a spud but do you have to use every inch of knowledge you have to slag off arsenal, guess what,Adebayor didn't leave the pitch straight way,but guess what,Robbie keane didn't exactly rush off either.

We play in big games therefore are more subseptable to big decisions, the last big game spurs played in their bottom went.

hotel,motel say holiday inn,say what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stange but I never mentioned your lovely boys at woolwich.

The harrasement of referees was started by Leeds and pursued by many clubs before the strange Mr wenger got his lads into the habit.

Management in sport or any other business is about control-motivation etc and perhaps the managers who do promote mahem on the pitch should look at the classic records of people like Busby-Shankly-Clough-Nicholson and several early days woolwich managers.

Ps:

Wenger accuses linesman of lying

Arsene Wenger fumes over Emmanuel Adebayor's treatment following his red card in the Carling Cup final.

This is a modern manager teaching his players they are never wrong? it is always someone elses fault! not on his own in this type of attitude but wrong wrong wrong in management technique to convince your staff they are never in the wrong and therefore there is no need to investigate the loss.
