Can someone from the club please contact the company below for prices of rain cover hire ? and I'll try and get sponsorship for a month or two or prehaps this could be the first thing the fans trust could sort out.

We are missing to many games and people are losing interest so come on it's worth a try.

Right just been on to the company and they have given me a quote.

Total hire cost for 10 no covers plus inflateable rollers is £3500 for a month

Total delivery cost is £500 £250 each way

Well at least we know how much to hire.

To buy these covers would cost £3250 per cover and you need 10.

Its a big ask mate. I think someone needs to talk to MFC and most importantly Ray. Was the pitch this bad before the work was done ? (No,I dont think so). And if the pitch is moving ??? It could be a waste of money if the draining system gets sorted.

However I do agree that if this problem stays we need to act.

Can't say I remember very many games being off because ground was waterlogged in the past, but then we had the slope which in itself helped with natural drainage. When we were in the Conference the pitch was levelled somewhat, but there was still a bit of a slope there! I think it really is to do with the construction of the new pitch that is causing all the problems!

jackey bakers is ok as was our pitch till it was vandalised by parminter.shortcuts and money savers have caused the problems.to late to do anything this season but covers could be the answer for next.as someone has said people are getting totally fed up with all this and i recon next tuesday (if it is on ) will see about 400 at the game.

The wettest winter since 1914 (it's official) has caused, in my experience, an unprecedented period of pitches being unfit for play which is frustrating for players, supporters and, not least, the groundsmen.

But for any club to rush in and hire/buy pitch covers is likely to end in tears - particularly on sloping pitches - because it is drainage from adjoining land which contributes to waterlogging not just rain falling on the pitch itelf and covers would do nothing to combat that.

Anyway, where would the covers be kept safe from vandalism and theft? And you'd need a lot of labour to shift 'em....

I've just read the other 'Game off' thread which includes a description of the pitch being grass on top of very little topsoil, with hardcore under that and chalk under that. If that is true, it is incredible...maybe it's the English Channel being absorbed laugh
