Tonighs game against Billericay has just been called off following a pitch inspection.

this problem could realy jepadise the chances of promotion if it caries on, players dnt like playing midweek, and the crowds will drop with midweek games which means less income for the club... covers must be a curtain purchase....

the rate we are going with all our postponements a lot of the fans will soon lose interest Shorley the club must be losing money God knows what this is going to cost us in the end. I cannot see us being in with so much of a chance of promotion next season, if we manage to blow it this season. I think the players will go and we will have to start from scath again

i think this season is huge for the club it has to be this season for promotion... its crazy with the pitch and you must take your hat off to ray for doing all he can. he must be getting fed up with working hard on the pitch and games being called off...

agree covers cant be that expensive, if they are get some crappy building blue covers and roll em on and off.

i can see the fixture buildup from this costing us

Can't see the need for panic just yet. We've played as many games as many teams and I make it three midweek games (not including Easter Monday) to play by the end of the season. Lucky we went out of all the cups!

I know there's no need to panic but look at suspensions and they are falling on important games. We also need games to keep the players sharp.

Yes but every time we get a hint of rain the game gets called off. Its not as if we can garrantee that the rest of the season is going to be dry is it. Something has got to sorted soon.

Yep I'm pissed off too. Just been for a walk over the local park & it's quite firm and you could certainly play on that so how come HDP just seems to collect water. A night in with the missus is not what I was looking forward to.

Could it be that the park is on chalk which is porous and the water drains away naturally.

The pitch also has chalk down their somewhere which is covered by compacted hardcore which is far less porous, and very little topsoil. Which means that the water sits on top of the hardcore and turns the few inches of topsoil into a quagmire!

I think the majority,if not all of us,knew this already Mark. However I agree wholeheartedly.. AB does explain it simply & precisely for those that were unaware of the facts.
