However, when playing for Jeff King at Canvey, he DID live up to his reputation, and was a regular in the side for 5 years, so IF the rumours do materialise, he may well do a good job for the Clarets. Judging from the stats on the internet, he has NEVER been what you would call a prolific goalscorer, probably more of an up front play maker, but guess we'll need to wait and see how things work out.

If that`s what the stats say then they are wrong, Boylan is a goalscorer end of story and what he has been lacking is a play maker like Minton.

Apologies - must have mis-interpreted the stats (either that, or the page I was looking at was a complete load of c**p). A posting on our messageboard now quotes the facts as 164 goals scored in 4 seasons, which sounds VERY prolific to me. And if that was achieved without "a play maker like Minton", then the future is looking good for the Clarets.

As a matter of interest jl, most of us dyed in the wool Clarets fans can't work it out either. With the exception of Margate, we are the Ryman's leading scorers with 62 goals from 30 matches, and have 4 of our strikers on double figures with their goals tally.

We all know that Mr Boylan will not come cheap, but I'm sure there must be a Jeff King masterplan out there somewhere.

Jeez, a lot of league 1 and 2 players would not be on that sort of cash. How could a team at our level sustain that sort of salary!(and that just for 1 player)But i guess that will be the stumbling block "if" he is to go. No-one in their right minds is going to pay huge bucks like that surely! crazy Or receipe for disaster.

come on chaps...if its not moaning about CCFC radio coverage, its moaning about our side, moaning about Jeff Kings money, moaning about the running track, moaning about CCFC being a one season wonder......why not discuss the good side of BTFC or what you are doing...instead of envious eyes on CCFC..

Do you really think after all we have been through over the last ten years we would be in a position to pay that sort of money or put years of bloody hard work in jeopardy any more then Steve Kent would put you lot in trouble?? No I don't think so either!

Give the green eye a rest please..........

It s not the green eye Loco, more an observation of what we are up against as we battle for promotion this season.

Boylan's a fine player. If I was a Chelmo fan I'd be delighted. He could even be the difference between the title and the play-offs. But as Fat Jeff digs deeper and deeper surely there must be a slight worry as to when his bubble will burst? Just ask Canvey.....

Boylan is a player on the way down in my opinion so dont see what all the Chelmo are getting so excited about they should ask themselves why would he want to join Chelmo ?

To get match fit ?

They are a great club & he couldnt wait to put pen to paper !

He cant hack it at the higher level anymore ?

Easy money have a reoccurence of the injury & get paid ?

Him & Jeff go back a long way ?

I dont know & I dont really care , I'm more interested in our prospects at the Gate.

We of course (collectively) are pleased, as its a local boy born and bred returning to his roots. Obviously we mark our intent in going forward to try and win the league, if thats at all possible now.

Why keep harping on about JK and dumping Canvey? He was there for over ten years and only left when the maximum gate he was ever going to get was 400? That burns pockets at any club trying to push on. So we've got him. Is he an idiot? No. Is he a good business man and very wwealthy? I should say so. Therefore I expect the man has looked around at the non league scene, seen the set up at Chelmo and liked it...so we must be doing something right if a highly successful businessman of considerable wealth and I might add considerable football experience and success at our level wants CCFC and no body else in this league or Essex area.........is that hard to comprehend? Is he going to pull out after so much hard graft this season? ...come on get real......a bubble about to burst as much as Steve Kent is going to dump you.......
