Westley sacked

In an amazing announcement, Nationwide Conference National club Rushden & Diamonds have sacked boss Graham Westley after Saturday's 2-2 draw at Aldershot Town.

Former Farnborough Town and Stevenage Borough manager Westley (pictured) was only appointed as Paul Hart's successor on December 18th.

In a statement, the club said Westley had been "relieved of his duties with immediate effect" and thanked him for his efforts at Nene Park.

"The club have decided performances and squad selection do not fit in with its long-term plan," it added.

"The club wishes to make no further comment and the search for a successor to Graham will start immediately."

The decision comes immediately after Diamonds had fought back from being two-down at The Rec to force a 2-2 draw!

Very strange. Westley was doing a good job at Rushden and results were improving under him.
