What happened to Charlie,there was talk in the match commentary that he might be out for the rest of the season.If so I can see us sliding down the table.

The commentators certainly mentioned this, but I think it was linked to some hyperthetical speculation rather than any medical fact. I only caught the last minute of the interview with L D after the game, so didn't hear if he was asked about this injury. Did any one hear anything being said about Charlie after the game?

Just got back and still (despite the 200+ mile drive) totally bewildered by what we commentated on this afternoon! Apologies if the commentary caused you to want and go slash your wrists, but that what Lord Chas and I had to stop ourselves doing during the second half!!!

 

First the good news - when I spoke to Liam after the game, he said to me that Charlie "just" suffered a dead leg and should be OK for Kiddy next week...

 

Cannot believe how poorly the Fleet played this afternoon and from talking to him neither can Liam... As he said to me, the "basics" werent there today and in my view the only one to come out of the game with any credit was John Keeling who ran his socks off... Considering some of the superb stuff that the boys have played this season, I hope that today was just a blip. But boy, it was hell of a blip!!!

 

Now is when the boys need every single Fleet fan to get behind them and push them through now into the Play Offs which lets remember are still a distinct and achievable possibility despite the league results going against the boys too today!

Add to that we were very poor but I was a little uneasy about how we got there and wasn't really fussed about winning it as I would always have prefered the Play Offs.

 

I agree with you Greenie about Keelo running his socks off but I also think Slatter played well today.

No midfield. What is Quinns Job? , to many basic mistakes and the missed pen.

 

For a fulltime team , we looked rather poor.

The Vics report mentions Slatter as having a couple of efforts at goal, and I believe it was his efforts that won the penalty?

Out of interest, that was the first penalty we've missed (penalty shoot-outs aside) since Andy Drury missed one at Shrewsbury on 20th April 2004.

Just trawling the archives - for the last 2 seasons we have lost the last 3 games of the season.

Let us pray that history does not repeat itself this year.

Wouldn't worry, CG, we'll have the play-offs sewn up by then and will rest our big players, playing a reserve side in the last three games, losing them all, but it won't matter.

Worryingly, we appear to be on the brink of a slump in form.

It really would be some slump if we did lose all of the last 3 games, especially as 2 are at home to Southport and St Albans. The last of the 3, away to D&R, is a different prospect.

Staying positive here, I reckon we need 80 points to make the play offs, which is roughly 2 points per game, or 7/8 wins + a couple of draws.

Cannot afford to lose more than 3, max 4 games here on in.
