Perhaps we could try a radical approach to the Kiddies game and, God forbid, go 4-4-2 with proper full backs allowed to defend, and proper wingers allowed to attack, not wing backs who do a bit of both, but can get caught too far back to help the strikers, but too far up to help the defence!!

There must be something wrong with me - I have to admit you're spot on again Gary.

Keeping 3-5-2 when results were going well and the starting XI was more settled was perfectly sensible. Now key players in the 3-5-2 system are absent and results are starting to go a little awry, switching to 4-4-2 is the sensible option.

One crumb of comfort to take from yesterday was that, after similarly poor displays at Cambridge and Stevenage, which brought identical scorelines, many of us felt our season may start to go off the rails. Let's just hope we learn from our mistakes yesterday and get quickly back on track, just like we did after those two games.

I agree with Quecerasaha, Charlie worked tirelessly trying to make something out of nothing. It's not his fault if the ball keeps getting lumped 30ft in the air. Paul McCarthy is a fine leader whose committment I'd never doubt. It was just one of those days. At least the cheese burgers were ok and very popular if the stewards were anything to go by.

After Saturday's games the top ten looks like this:

1 Dag & Red 33 36 70

2 Oxford Utd 33 25 60

3 Exeter 32 16 55

4 York 33 10 55

5 Gravesend 32 6 53

6 Morecambe 31 7 52

7 Stevenage 31 12 51

8 Burton Albion 32 -1 51

9 Aldershot 31 4 46

10 Kidderminster 31 -4 45

Therefore, if everyone wins their games in hand, we'll go a point above York, but slip two points behind Morecambe and one behind Stevenage. This will leave us just outside the play-off places in 6th. It seems to me that now, more than ever before, every game is crucial, starting with Kiddie next week. A win there may well put us back on track, a defeat might put more grease on the slippery slope we seem to be in danger of sliding down.

Indeed, JC. 3-5-2 works well when the team is confident, and has energetic playmakers (Long and DeBolla) playing ahead of, and around the holding defensive man (Quinn).
Sadly, is it not the case now that more often than not Quinn is playing between our own D and the centre circle - which if you do not have box-to-box midfielders cuts out the creativity?

I would definitely go 4-4-2 against Kiddies

Ledgisder Slatter Long/Coleman Keeling
MacDonald/Sodje Varney

I'm surprised that somehow nobody has mentioned that one or two of our fans yesterday let the club down by trying to start a fight with the celebrating Northwich fans. Are these the people that we want to represent our football club? One of the offenders works for the club and gets access to our ground for free for working matchdays, is he the sort of person that the club want as they attempt to attract more familys through the gate?

If I had done a similar thing in front of my employer I would have been sacked. Those that run the club have got some thinking to do.

Harry, I agree with you. But, I don't think the person in question was trying to start a fight. Well I hope he wasn't. It just looked like a lot of shouting and geticulating. Put it this way 5 stewards ( all 6ft wide), steel partition and 600 Vic fans. Not much of a fight. Would have been interesting to see. From what I saw, they shook hands and made up.

I think its ridiculous that he accussed the stewards of failing to control their fans , when in reality , a few chavs called him a fat person. The 8 foot high fence would have done. A smaller one would have allowed us to feed him to the animals.

This guy is not a true representative of the club , and another example of why drinking should be banned or extremely limited inside grounds.

Im not getting dragged into a debate about employees of the club. thats their decision , not ours .

What I do know , even on a day off from work , If I was witnessed perfoming in the same manor , my manager would pull me up straight away.

Wasn't there so cannot comment on the said incident. However, I would just like to point out that some of us can enjoy a few beers and also behave ourselves.

If you did ban drinking within, or close to, grounds, I don't think that would solve anything as those that wanted to get alcohol would get it...probably from the many papershops/Post Offices/mini marts that now sell it.

If GNFC didn't have a bar.... a) loss of revenue from bar profits & B) several of my "casual fan" mates wouldn't bother coming along, so loss of gate money as well.

If there is the odd occasion that someone oversteps the mark, why don't the stewards just throw him ( or her !!) out ? Isn't that what they are there for ?

Cheers,

I'm not sure how to take that, Harry? Do you agree, or is it a p*ss take?

Either way, it is important we get our season back on track by starting to do the simple things again, possession football, playing a high tempo, two solid banks of 4 which are difficult to break down.

It is perplexing the way we crumble, but somehow I think it is less to do with us, more that other teams have done their homework and sussed us out.

I will not be drawn into slagging off players or management - the same team who have served us so well so far.
