From 250 miles away, it SOUNDS like a dire performance.

Sadly I cannot comment, as I am not there.............but I'm glad I'm not.

I wonder what the positive spin on this will be, and is it now time to admit that blindly trying to play 3-5-2 when it doesn't suit the chosen team is a recipe for defeat?

Perhaps we could try a radical approach to the Kiddies game and, God forbid, go 4-4-2 with proper full backs allowed to defend, and proper wingers allowed to attack, not wing backs who do a bit of both, but can get caught too far back to help the strikers, but too far up to help the defence!!

And before I get slated, even former Fleet Director Richie Anson thought we weren't playing well!

From what I heard on the radio, two of the goals were scored from corners ( a bit of an alien concept to us I realise ) and the third the easiest tap-in you are likely to see in a single season.

We had a James Smith goal disallowed ( not sure why - hope to get chapter and verse from someone who was there) and without Charlie on the field to take penalties Liam Coleman's spot kick was well saved. It was implied that it was given for hand ball but I heard nothing about a yellow (let alone a red) for the offender. So the outcome could have been closer, but the commentators were pretty uncompromising in their assessment. The truth was that we were "second best" throughout. And even the most diehard officials - hating Fleet fan could have nothing to moan about. The ref was anonamous, which apparently means he must have had a good game.

I just think that we are probably destined never to win a major national trophy or honour. Ours is a club where, like many others, successes come rarely and they need to be savoured because they will always be outnumbered by the failures or near-misses etc. Please prove me wrong about the playoffs!

overall a very bad day got back about 45 mins ago and i feel we deserved to go out by the way we played. 2nd half was a bit better but still pants. Goal disallowed at 1-0 down and missed a penalty at 3-0. We had a host of chances but couldnt convert them. Dodgy lino 3rd goal was offside. Cronin had a below average game so did ricketts as most of the team. MOM if there was one had to be keeling only player i really noticed. Well at least we can concentrate on the league and push for the playoffs. Up the Fleet

I was there CG and it was worse than dire!!

I am not sure any of the players were there though!

Imagine the worst parts of the Chelmsford game, it was at least as bad as that.....if not worse.

I am sorry totally disagree about your opinion of MOM. Yes Keeling was noticable, but for all the wrong reasons. He huffed and puffed a bit, complained about being fouled to the referee a lot (when quite clearly he was looking for the foul by running into the Northwich player) and was totally at fault for the second goal - fast asleep when he should have tracked back with the player to whom the short corner was played to. The same player who then proceeded to fire the ball into the penalty area which led to the second goal.

If there had to be a player named as MOM I would suggest either Charlie Macdonald (who despite getting no service and going off injured, worked tirelessly for the ball), or Paul McCarthy who did very little wrong. I am not sure what has happened to Lance Cronin since his injury, but certainly from his body language it would suggest that his confidence has gone? The rest, can put it down to a very bad day 'at the office'.

Vast improvement needed before the next game, otherwise I can see the season ending in a dramatic disappointment.
