state of the pitch?

Walked the pitch today as I was meeting with Blueblood & i.m.o the pitch wasnt playable TODAY even before any rain came down.

Waterlogged in the centre circle & the outlying areas are very squelchy too though not as bad as the central part of the pitch. I think Ray would have to perform a double miracle to get the pitch ready for Saturday even WITHOUT further rain.If the game had been scheduled for tonight,Thursday, & in the role of a local official I would not have passed it. Not looking too promising at all i.m.o.

djw - see older threads! Think you'll find that some people reckon the job wasn't done properly to begin with - Ray has a huge fight on his hands every time it rains and has pulled off some miracles at times. Yes, I'll second the fact that he needs a medal and more!

Well, had another quick look in today.Ground looking better. Couldn't see as much water sitting on top today. Didn't see any in fact.

Actually looking playable today(though this time I didn't walk the pitch for that closer look I must admit).

I reckon if the weather holds tonight & tomorrow morning then the chances are better than they looked yesterday. Watch the weather!

Ray again was up there doing his utmost(well he wasn't actually there when I looked in,but the evidence of him being there was clear to see.)

Maybe with some luck & the weather remaining decent & with Rays expertise we might actually see the miracle of a home game after all on Saturday.

Don't make alternative arrangements JUST yet!

When did you go up the ground Cookie? It may have looked a bit better today, but believe me it wasn't! Loads of standing water of the surface, it's possible Ray could pull off a miracle and get the game on, but I wouldn't put my house on it.
