Fun Day May 7th

I should think we will have the numbers but your more than welcome to turn up. Usually we play 45 each way with rolling subs, I suspect in only a 20 minute each way game I may have a problem getting volunteers to go off. I'll let you know nearer the time once I've had chance to speak with all the usual suspects.

  • 3 weeks later...

Heven't been here for ages.

For those who don't know me, I'm Nathan's Mum, aka Louise, aka Nemesis from the Slough Observer forum.

One of my fellow moderators on the SlOb forum, Toby Evans, the Fennerfest dude and gig organiser and occasional critic of STFC fans, has publically offerred to give a bit of publicity for the Fun Day with his various contacts/mailing lists etc.

Toby gets a lot of people involved in a lot of things, so he may be able to drum up a bit of interest for the Fun Day.

This is where he's offerred the plug, http://www.sloughobserver.com/forum/view...5674#102871...I think the only realistic way of contacting him quickly is via PM on the Slough Observer board, so I was wondering if someone who posts there could give him some details (e.g Ted, King Tut, Gary, Liam, Dom etc)...if not, I could do it, but I'm not exactly up to date with current arrangements...

Hi Lou/Nem,

Long time no see on these boards! That's a really kind offer, the more press we get before hand the better. As far as I know... the football tournament is still going ahead, bouncy castle has been booked, jazz band, BBQ plus many stalls from local organisations. Doors open at 13:30 and the day will go on til at least 16:00 (longer if people are still interested!) Also been told that Two Left Feet (a dance group who specialise in teaching people of all abilties) will be there in force to teach anyone who's willing, which'll be fun!

If you don't mind passing that on that'd be great as I'm not au fait with the observer site (plus its playing up on my computer today which is irritating)

Incidentally - Gary STFC - I take it you haven't heard from Burnham Ladies no?

I have passed details to Toby and also posted a plug on the Slough Observer site.

Toby has also suggested other places for me to post details such as BBC Berkshire and the Slough Council What's On guide.

I'll do that, but I need to know URGENTLY whether there's an admission price though, if so what?...

I've gone ahead and put details up on the websites of BBC Berkshire and Slough Council.

I have to say a BIG thank you to Toby Evans for all his help and suggestions for publicity...I know a few words were exchanged a couple of months ago between Toby and STFC fans, but he's been a real star with this...

This is what I put on the Observer site, in case anyonbe wants to use it anywhere else...IF I'VE GOT ANY DETAILS WRONG PLEASE SHOUT :o)

Ok guys prepare yourselves for some bad news....

A large number of the ladies I was relying on for the women's match have pulled out on me and as Burnham ladies are unfortunately unavailable I'm afraid there won't be a ladies match on the fun day.

On the plus side, that does make me available for the supporters team should there be room?!

Shame about the ladies match but of course you can rejoin the supporters team Charlie.

I'm going to send round an e-mail about the supporters match to check on numbers and will then confirm the squad on here.

Time 106.6 are now publicising this quite heavily.

I've heard from two of the presenters who have definitely plugged it (including the breakfast show) and said they'll carry on doing so...it's also on the station "events list" so the other presenters should also pick up on it too...

Time 106.6 have some really friendly, helpful staff and Mike the breakfast guy has said he's always happy to publicise this sort of thing.

Listen to Time 106.6 - they rock (well, not musically unfortunately, but you know what I mean...)
