That is a good point to raise HDF! Commitment is required from both 1st team and reserves - cripes, if I can travel hundreds of miles to watch my footy team I'm sure the players could do the same to train!

Well said June, injury to his foot or not,if you cant last 90 mins,,,,thats why we have subs,,,as I said he was great in the 1st half and he will be a great asset to the team.

Some interesting posts on here its interesting peoples views when the going gets tough. IMO I dont think we have a deep enough squad in the terms of quality. With injuries and suspensions we have bought in players that I dont think Trotty knows as well as he thinks he does. We cannot replace big players with res. players and I fear we are falling into the trap of thinking we can.

Oh yer Sanderson.............DO ONE !

I think you'll all missing a point hear. Trotty can't predict the future and no one was prepared for this weather and the lack of matches for the fringe players to play. I presume you have all played or coached at this sort of level to pass gudgement on the players and coaching staff but frankly they have produced a minor miricle getting this squad together. Firstly the origanal budget would have been set for Trotty at the start of the season and he had a few players on good money hanging around getting paid quite a sum and its hard to get rid of those players who will sit there and just take a wage. Each time a player has gone like bertie he has been replaced with quality i.e Sappleton job well done.

Secondly Trotty went down the route of reinstating the reserves and under 18s which CK wasnt interested in and everyone around the club got really excitted about this including myself as I was once a coach at Margate and we lost quite a few players to Ramsgate through lack of comitment to the reserves and Youth setup. I.e Ollie Shultz. Liam Morris and others.

Third point. Trotty came to reserve and under 18s training pre-season and was really excited about 4 or 5 players who he thought he could bring into first team fold and bring through to become first team players over the coming years. These players Dan Dalton. Nick Baggley, Dan Wisker. Lewis Smith. Luke Williams have all had good reviews on this Forum and now all of a sudden they are not good enough in most of your eyes because they are not experience, fit or strong enough. Give them a break. Over the last few months these players have played only 2 reserve games each. This is because of pitch conditions out of any bodies control. You can not and will not be match fit or sharp without playing reserve games. These lads are fitter than any one of us on this forum, They would kill most of us if we tried to keep up. This does not mean they will last 90 minutes on a pitch this is why the likes of Baggley and Dolton have not been 100% for 90 minutes. Trooty keeps sending them to reserve games and they are told to stay on for the full game but everytime the games are called off so what can you do.

Forth point. trotty knows these lads really well if he did'nt think they could do a job when asked then he would not have them in the squad and he would not have put them on a contract. Give the team a break and get behind them thats what they need is our support. These players are giving there all to the cause and believe you me as a ex player (not for the gate) they will be pis-ed off about recent results and want to put it right because no one likes losing.

You seem to want strong and experienced players, but they are the ones who keep getting sent off.

People like Louis Smith keep their heads and play very well when needed.

Yes the weather and pitch has not helped, but that's football for you.

Trotty should def have given some subs a run out as we were losing anyway. They need the experience and it is the only way to see if they sink or swim.

I would like to add I thought the ref had a good game, and it's not often I say that.

Agree entirely about the reserve players in the side. They have had no chance to get match fit, due to problems beyond their control. I think Baggley has performed better than could have been expected after coming back from a bad injury, and have no chance of getting match fit.

Dave I do agree on that point about putting a couple of subs late on as we were losing anyway so it might have give them a boost. I do believe they were about to put a couple of subs on just before Dean got sent off so they changed it.

As for others comments about reserve players not good enough these players are first team squad on contract so they are good enough just need a few games under their belt. We would all like promotion but we have also got to build for the coming years and thats only going to happen if we as supports start supporting the youth coming through and encourge them as much as possible. We are not a chelsea with an endless budget and at present I think we have one of the biggest wage bills in the rymans.

Untill one of us wins the lottery and want to fund the club we love we have got to be realistic and realise we have to encourage a natural progression system through the youth system to the reserves and then 1 or 2 players each year can hopefully progress to first team football. Buying players and paying them high wages doe'nt always give instant success even players of world class need time to bed in I.E Ballack Shevy. Henry etc etc.

As a spurs supporter it pains me to say but look at Arsenals youth setup I took a team there 10 years ago and the kids were good then. That was the first season they employed Liam Brady as head coach along with Brian Talbot Pat rice and Graham Rix as youth team coaches. Now look at them in the carling cup final with basiclly a youth squad. All the clubs now have good youth systems in place we need to catch up. Invest in the future as well as the present otherwise we will be on hear for years to come having the same old discusions.

Ian you don`t mention anything about Wardy putting the kids out tomorrow as stated in the Thanet Times today . See we are both down to bear bones then at the mo , lets hope you have to eat some humble pie . And the only 100% you are is incapable of seeing that both teams are going through the mill a bit but you only recognize us as having the problem.

Jim Ward has had similar problems reguarding team selection throughout this season and he has actually experimented with different systems to compensate, some ive agreed with and some i havent, but thats football im afraid. We cant expect our sides to go through a season without the ups and downs.Im sure most of the MFC supporters are pleasantly surprised what Ramsgate have achieved so far this season,im delighted of course but like yourselves want more.
