The tightest season ever?

I've been looking back through the records for the tightest finish to a Ryman Prem season and I reckon it's the 95-96 season:

1)Hayes Pl42 Pts 86 gd+44

2)Enfield Pl42 Pts 86 gd +43

3)BWood Pl42 Pts 83 gd +40

4)Yeovil Pl42 Pts 80 gd +32

5)Dulwich H Pl42 Pts 80 gd +26

The lowest ever winning points total (so far) is 81 in 87-88 (Yeovil), the highest number of defeats for a prem div champion is 11 for Leytonstone & Ilford in 81-82 (They finished with 83 points).

I's obviously difficult to compare seasons, what with different promotion options (play-offs etc), but no doubt this is an excellent season for the league as a whole.

One thing is for certain: Nobody will beat Enfield's 110 point tally (season 77-78) which is the record for a 42 game season...

I suppose we're all hoping that this years table isn't as close as that, im only young and ive seen Ricay in many 'Heart in mouth' contests before. Please not again ...

... That lowest points total looks a bit under threat by the looks of it with 13/14 games left and the leaders on only 55. A tight contested title is all good for the promotion of the ryman league aye smile I dont feel these lower leagues get the publicity they deserve ...

Seen a lot more "heart in mouth" contests and also the "Oh MY God We've Gone And F**ked it up" contests.

Just enjoy the ride and keep out of mind where we are and how close we are.

And keep everything crossed!!!!
