Billericay 3-1 Worthing

Won a game but dropped a place...funny old game! Just 2 points cover top 6 now. Comfortable win I thought, particularly once we went 2-1 early in 2nd half. Worthing set out to stop us playing, but we got the lead when their keeper spilled a shot from Flackie, Whelps burying the rebound.

Quickly gave away a pen though which was frustrating, but second half cruised past them with a Flack goal and a belter from Whelps. After that we were able to rest a couple of players ahead of big games on the horizon.

Worster

Macca Heffer Blewitt Kerras

Whelps Hunter Dorms Hodge

Burbs Flack

Subs

Game for Hodge

Holland for Burbs

Hill for Flack

SNU: Semanshia Wayman

Swaine hasn't been well this week, I understand Billy McMahon was due to play for the ressies.

Incidentally I understand we're looking at a defender who's been playing in Cyprus, but we're waiting for international clearance... I wonder if it will catch on wink

Sounds like another excellent win!

Double celebration for me - 3-1 down south, and a shock 4-1 win up here. So far the celebrations have included a Domino's pizza with the beer and wine almost cold enough to start a mini drinks fest.

Bloody typical that the other mob score 7 to jump ahead!!!

We can only keep picking up the points and see what happens. Thought Whelps was excellent again and his second a definate contender for goal of the season! Also though Burbs had probably his best game for us, won alot in the air and held up the ball alot better plus he also upped his work rate. Makes the next 2 away games really big games, which at the end of the day is what us fans what to be involved in!

Another easy win for the lads whelps had another blinder and a goal that qualifies for goal of the month must mention young Ronnie in goal Billy's back soon, I wonder if Matt will stick with Ronnie for the two tough games next up, to me Ronny has'nt put a foot wrong and I know a few league clubs are watching him, I just hope we get a nice few quid for him when he goes, he's quality that young man.

Joe.

I knew a Joe kavanah who used to live in Leyton, is that you?

Ronnie did ok today, not his best game, but there’s no questioning his contribution to the team so far, Mal, .our goalkeeping coach has done a great job, we're lucky to have 4 quality keepers in our ranks, all of whom are pushing for a first team spot.

So, today, another well deserved 3 points I thought, top of the table is very tight now, so lets hope we can maintain our current form and be in with a shout in a months time.

Congratulations to Joe Flack who won player of the month for January, and he put in another fine performance today, scoring one, and setting up another.

Next stop Wimbledon, we have two supporters coaches, as well as our usual car and train travellers, It should be a good game, and one I'm particularly looking forward to, Wimbledon is always a very hospitable place to visit, and there huge crowd makes for a fine day out..

I'm not sure it's Ronnie I'd be selling.

A good win today. Odd to drop a place, but it really makes little difference at this stage. More importantly, everyone else except Chelmsford around us dropped points, which puts us either 1 or 2 points off the lead, depending on whether AFCW have their appeal upheld or not.

However, the most important thing is we won, all we can do is concentrate on our own games.

Some good goals today. Excellent work by Flack to set up the first goal, and finish the second. Excellent goal by Whelpdale for the third, he really is a fine young player. We could have have had more goals too, Whelpdale almost got his hattrick when the keeper was stranded, but just poked it wide, Flack hit the post too. Burbridge had a good effort too. Ive been quick to criticise him in past games, so its only fair to give him credit on a very good performance today, imo.

Altogether, a good performance. Was a little disappointing to give away the goal (i missed the penalty incident, so dont know if it was a pen or not), but a thoroughly deserved 3 points.

2 huge games coming up now. They may be 2 of the hardest of the whole season, but were approaching them in good form (4 wins in a row, unbeaten in 10), and if we play as we can we know were capable of taking 6 points from them. If we do that, we may well be top of the pile by next tuesday. Having said that, id be very happy with 4 points, or even 3 probably, as they are 2 tough away games, and we cant win them all can we?

Finally, what an incredibly exciting season were having. With 2 points covering the top 6, it could barely be closer, and its a thrill and a privelige to be involved in it. I just hope the whole AFCW appeal/courts melodrama doesnt end up overshadowing the important biz of the footie.

Night all, see you at Wimbledon!

Actually, thats probably not true, as both Bromley and Margate play three times in the next 10 day period. Anyway, its all really much of a muchness, if we win the next 2 games well be delighted, no matter what league position we stand in.

Attendance today 576 by the way, for all you budding stattos.

Joe has been in excellent form just lately, and has really stepped up the plate since the departure of Nathan. He thoroughly deserved the award for January.

A very good result and performance especially in the second half where we not only played some of the most convincing football against a struggling side but also refused to let our concentration slip when in the driving seat...something that used to happen last year.

All goals were well taken and apologies for the excitement of the announcement for Whelpdales 2nd but I couldn't contain myself...Looks if the last has two goals now for the "goal of the season" vote!!!

Well done to Joe Flack. I would agree that he did indeed deserve the award but you should've seen the look on his Dad's face. if there ever was a Father who was more pleased and proud of that moment, point him out!!! Not wishing to name names but Mr. Flack senior is a breath of fresh air when compared to another ex 'Ricay strikers relatives.

A deserved victory for us, our second half performance was very strong indeed.

I thought first half, although we were probably still the better side, we were a little bit rusty/sloppy especially defensively. A better side may have been able to punish us and a little reminder that we need to concentrate all the time even when it appears "easy".

I thought we were excellent in the second half and could have won by a far greater margin. I thought offensively we were as good as we have been for a while with a much improved showing from Rikki and Joe and Whelps continuing with their fine recent form.

Th team seems in great heart at the moment and I'm sure everyone is really looking forward to the up-coming games.

Well done lads.

Frustrating in the first half but dominant in the second; particularly in the last 15m when Worthing were flagging. Great goal from Whelps. Like many, I completely missed the penalty incident. What a tight race this is! Couldn't belive our luck with all those points being dropped elsewhere yesterday.

Great victory - its nice to see us gaining maximum points in games we are expected to win. Very often our downfall has been against 'lesser' teams (no disrespect meant) rather than the better teams in the division. However our mentality has been spot on in recent weeks against the likes of Walton and Worthing which is very pleasing to see. Interesting to see Matty taking an interest in psychology - it seems that the lads really do have the belief at the moment.

I would also like to extend my praise for flacky - he has been brilliant since Nathan left - he has made the spot his own with not only some great finishing but also hard graft, chasing balls and not giving visiting defenders a second to pause. I feel confident now that we can score enough goals with flacky, whelps, hodges, dorms and allen when he comes back in.

Could mention also be made to Worthing's back 4 who were pure comedy throughout the game. I've never seen as many sliced clearances in one match.

Roll on next week

Nice one lads excited A thoroughly pro performance. The game could have swung when Worthing got the pen, but i think it fair to say the lads just upped it a bit to finish it.

Lets just say it was ANOTHER TEAM PERFORMANCE, and as what has been happening this season (the boxes are working).

The first time i see ronnie play was against margate where he played a very good game, i also see him against Chelmsford a few weeks back now, again i thought he had an excellent game. I wasnt at the game saturday i only get to see a few games, but i have heard that league clubs are looking at ronnie. For someone of his age he has a great amount of potential (of what i have seen and heard of him) and i am sure the club will make some money in the not too distant future from him.

It really is refreshing that the club has quality youngsters coming through, and as you say the possibility of moving onto pro football really does benefit Billericay Town as a whole. How many times do you see journeyman teams going through the motion without having any affinity to their club, except their wages. Ronnie has done exceedingly well, and like Whelps and others coming through will contribute to Billericay's future, as well as future wealth. More youngsters will want to come to the club, and that quite often starts at kid level. Matt and team are blending a prodominantly young team with 2 or 3 older heads and come what may, it sure as hell is enjoyable football, AND there is not an ounce of pressure/expectation on those players from us fans, meaning they can relax and play their game.
