How has the council dealt with your ground needs?

You can image the local chavs and dickheads who will loiter around the Turner Centre instead of the High Street...maybe the Council will do something about them if their flagship white elephant is targeted

In all the years I lived in Thanet, the council have always been clueless! Glad to see nothing changes although I use that term in a rather sad sense!

Love the quote from the builders of the cinema/casino/bingo/restaurant complex at Westwood Cross saying that Thanet Council wanted to regenerate the area!!!!!!

 

It IS bloody farmland they are building on.

 

So they regenerate a working farm to create a "town centre" (another quote) and let the seafront,high street, The Centre fall into disrepair so that the so called Margate Regeneration Company (of Reading) can pull it all down for flats. The influx of Eastern Europeans and asylum seekers will have to go somewhere I suppose

Frankie i agree the council have been worse than useless and not just for MFC.But i really hope that maybe one day we do get a few decent councillours, who care about the towns and not just the money that can be made from the latest crackpot scheme.

But the club needs to put realistic plans to the council and something that all the fans can believe in.

ive heard that there are going to be rules about having 3 floors max on any homes/flats - not sure how true that is as i was half asleep at the time.

I think the best thing that any local councillor can do is listen to the needs of the electorate and serve them, and not just pander to them prior to gaining power, but continue to listen to and serve them after they are elected.

So many people in government come across as entirely self-serving.

Why the hell are we still pandering to asylum seekers and immigrants???? What's wrong with putting the needs of our own people first?!! Cripes, this world is going bonkers - the sooner we get out of the EU the better!!!

I am sorry, but I do not agree with any of that.

 

Immigrants on the whole come here to work, and do a lot of the jobs that the indiginous people just won't do. And in some cases are horribly exploited, especially if their skin happens to be brown. Take a look at the working conditions of the army of overnight office cleaners, or fruit pickers, or food processors. Many immigrants are Australian, or American, or Irish, and you do not seem to get an uproar about that, funnily enough. Asylum seekers are fleeing persecution, and have lived lives of a horror that we as sheltered and pampered Brits could not imagine.

 

And I hardly think that asylum seekers and immigrants come from the EU, so what on earth has that got to do with it?

 

There are abuses by both groups, of course, but there are also a lot of abuses, frauds, benefit cheating and other stuff by the Brits too. There's good and bad in every group of people, and many shades of grey in between. But fundamentally we are all human beings, want the best for our families, want to do well and be safe and comfortable.

What I was trying to say is that we seem to put them first when there are a whole load of British people (an I'm not getting political here!! Am not racist so colour etc doesnt come into it) that get put to the back of housing lists etc just so some asylum seekers can live rent free in a nice 5 bed house!!!

if they are seeking refuge, then put them in camps and check out their claims.

Sorry Bob but it seemed an opportunity for some of us to get a few things about the area that annoy us off our chest.

 

Most of us feel that a decent, safe stadium attracting a high standard of football and the opportunity to go up the pyamid attaching a large number of visitors to the area would be of a benefit to the town.

 

Additionally the greater the distance we travel the greater the publicity the town receives at NO cost to the Council.
