Five fans arrested at The Rec

 

Police arrested five people after the Nationwide Conference game between Aldershot Town and Oxford United at the Recreation Ground last Saturday.

 

Apparently, police had to intervene after violent clashes between football supporters after the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

 

 

The fixture attracted a crowd of more than 3,600 and police said the violence "included clashes in the street with offenders as young as 13 challenging officers and throwing missiles".

 

Sounds like Blazing Squad were out again.

There were 16 arrested at Aldershot v Romford in 97-8. Crowd of just under 3,000 that day too....Mind you was a major tear up under the railway bridge...we may have lost the game......

Rather nasty bunch at Aldershot. Have had a few problems there when we've visited them.

on the news today re rioting at river plate. apparently the club pays the hooligan element $20,000 a month to prevent erruptions. maybe E E EFM could strike a similar deal with Gibbo? hm. maybe not. imagine the cattery behind closed doors..
