Following the Romford v GB Olympic Deaf Squad on February 18th at Rush Green (kick off 1pm) there will be an auction of Romford fc memorabilia from the 1930's. Funds raised will go towards the GB Olympic Deaf squad.

The lots are -

): Set of 13 postcards, one featuring the 1936-37 team (each player pictured separately) and 12 of individual players, most of them named in ink on the back but otherwise near mint.

): One more postcard of 1936-37 team as above, with a very small hole which does not affect the pictures.

): One large, mounted team picture with trophies. Captioned above “ROMFORD FOOTBALL CLUB 1935-36. Champions Athenian Football League, semi-finalists FA Amateur Cup, winners Ostende Casino-Kursaal Cup.” Names in full underneath. Picture and caption approx 10.5 inches by 8.5 inches and in excellent condition, mounted on bigger cardboard backing which is badly damaged but can be removed without affecting the picture.

): Three large pictures: two unspecified action (one certainly showing a Boro goal), plus a team group in civvies with (I believe) the Essex Senior Cup. Also a pre-match team group on paper in fairly poor condition, a Daily Mail hand-out.

): Four-page small card folder with the itinerary (in English) for the trip to Ostend for the Casino-Kursaal Cup on August 23, 1936. Undoubtedly an official programme for the game, though perhaps not the only one, printed in Ostend and includes line-ups for both sides (with Romford changes inked in). Also a postcard picture of the team in civvies in front of a civic building. Just guessing that it is from this trip.

): Booklet, bound with yellow and blue ribbon, a brochure inviting bookings for the Brooklands Sports Ground for the summer of 1939. Features THAT picture of the ‘proposed layout of ground’.

): Very small 4-page leaflet: rules of Romford Football Club as passed by Annual General Meeting, June 29th, 1936. (Among others: “Tenders to be invited for orders amounting to £2 and over”).

): The Football Association Referees’ Chart for 1938-39, 48-page booklet in card cover, with laws of the game and extra advice to referees, secretaries and players. Mint condition.

): Menu for club’s first annual dinner, 12-5-32. Eight-page card booklet, again bound with yellow and blue ribbon, and signed by 12 players on the inside back.

): Large mounted picture in superb condition of the 1931-32 team and officials with the Essex Senior Cup.

): FA Amateur Cup semi-final programme, Romford v The Casuals at Dulwich - 28th March 1936, One sheet folded to make eight pages. Slight creased, slight tears on front but in excellent condition for age.

): Romford FC Supporters’ Club badge. Rear of badge has HW Miller ltd Branston St. B'ham 18. No date but obviously from the 1930s, nr perfect condition.

The bidding will be by sealed bids after viewing on the day or bids can be accepted via post to - Romford fc c/o 20 Halidon Rise Harold Park Romford RM3 0YL Up until Saturday 17th February.
